Hi All,

I am new to an S3 and I am almost done on a deal for this..



I hope to collect it next week all going well, only downside is a 14 hr round trip to get it. It is a manual, 2014 "63" Plate and has quite a lot of goodies my A1 never had. Quite excited for the Xenon headlights and Audi Drive Select. All in all I think it will suit me very well.

I have come from this..





More pics to follow as and when I hopefully pick it up!!

Welcome. Not seen any s3's going about Dundee yet so maybe you will be the first
 
I think I have seen 1 Sportback version. Plenty of S-Lines though..

Well deal has been done on the car & i collect it in a week.. so many feelings.. heart is going yipee my head is going you stoopid *** and lot's of "oh have i done the right thing" lol,,
 
You will love it. How come you have a 14 hour trip. Was there none in Dundee or Perth
 
None mate only older model's. There is an older model in Dundee for £400 dearer than what I paid down south. Bizzare but that is what I have found in the past too. Bought an Audi TT last year for the wife from Cheltenham which was 16hr round trip. lol. At least it will give me time to have a good run with it and fall in love with a new car all over again. :)

Your A1 looks nice but the S3 will be another league. Welcome to the forum bud.

Hey Nawaid, thanks. The A1 is a great wee car but I always wanted an S3. Just could not justify it financially before. Should be collecting next Sunday so now I am extremely excited!!! ;-)

I remember the wait for mine, it was torture.

I got it in March this year and haven't looked back since. Defo the best all rounder i've ever owned. Very rapid when pushing on but can be lovely and civilised when just running to work and back on a daily basis.

Which black is it? Panther? It looks like it might have a touch of purple in it??

What spec is it then? I'll opening the batting with;

Comfort pack
tech pack without connect
audi sound system

??
 
Yes to the spec so far. Tbh I think that is as much as I know just now.. As it is way more extras than I have ever had. I was happy with the DAB and xenons tbh. Will dig out the info and put anymore specs up if they aren't standard. Lol.

I really can't wait, the wife thinks I have made a mistake and will get bored soon.. I highly doubt it tbh. ;) had the A1 not even 2 years and an astra before only 2.5 yrs.. This is a totally different league!!!
 
You won't get bored. But if you do then a DTUK box is only £399 lol.

I don't work for them by the way but I do have one and love it,
 
I had an A1 185. The S3 is in a whole other leauge. None of the issues getting the power down the A1 had.

You'll enjoy It im sure.
 
If it's got smoking pack make sure they give you the silver cup ashtray as it's missing.

DAB and xenons are standard.

I had thought on one for the A1, looks good value. I kinda knew Andrew the owner from being on AstraOwnersNetwork. I think will get used to the 300ps for a while and then maybe look into that when the wife ain't looking!!

Having spoken to the wife more she is coming round so that helps..and yes defo the right thing.. The more I look the nicer it gets. ;)

Cheers, yeah A1 is a great wee car but on days like today I could have done with Quattro going to work, back country roads in Fife are not good!!

Lol yeah I was aware DAB/xenons were standard, just still a novelty for me as never had them before. :) will check on the smokers thing, no mention in the sales guff..

I would not know where to start mate, guessing there will be a few things needing done and am sure will come across them on the site and when driving it. If you ever fancied a meet up I work in Cupar and a bit of a photographer so could have photoshoot, maybe get a thread going for anyone else in the area. ;)

Think it light and rain sensor although this maybe part of comfort pack?..

Is there anyway of emailing Audi and finding out exactly what it came out the factory with?..

Oh and it is Panther Black!

Regardless I am more than impressed with what it has so am mega happy!! :)

comfort pack comes in various guises and on yours it contains the rear parking sensors, auto dim mirror and cruise control.

Its a good job you've got the audi sound system - it's really quite good and decent upgrade over standard.

Panther is clearly the best black too, especially as you enjoy cleaning cars as when the sun shines on it the colour changes are subtle but silky.

You will love it, when do you get it?
 
Yes I am sure I am going to love it!! Have just topped up my cleaning products so perfect timing!!

I should hopefully be collecting it on Sunday. Although dealer said it could take 10days to get ready??... That would be rubbish if so...

Just looking up detailing just now and if the Crystal paint needs any specialist treatment? Guessing it's just same as metallics.. Looking into getting some black fire stuff..not used it before, generally poorboys and autoglym hd etc. least I have a week to get stuff prepared for her. ;)

Not a bad wee motor, needed a good polish and wax though, had been more than a month since last polish. Just been crappy weather and my garage is far too small to work in. Lol
 
I moved up from an A1 185 Black Edition to the S3 too.

The 185 is a good car - makes a nice noise and its fairly quick.

The S3 is a massive step up in terms of performance but also interior quality. The A1 has the best super mini interior IMO but the A3/S3 is something even more special

So the next thing I have to decide is do I take the finance or not.. I am getting 2 free services and a £250 contribution. The way it pans out over 2 years is £1200 in interest payments however take off the £700 for 2 services and the £250 that's only £350 interest. In my current account I stand to make approx £450 in interest on the £10k (santander 123) I would use to buy car... My only question now is is the servicing actually going to cost me £700 or do I find a specialist that would be cheaper?... That won't affect warranty will it? (Obviously they will have to use OEM parts..)

Should the contribution not be 500?

If they're insisting you do the finance for a discount, take the finance and cancel within 14 days of it starting, then you just settle the balance within 30 days and pay no interest. The dealer wouldn't usually find out and even if they did you are entitled to change your mind.

So dealer just been on phone asking if i have thought about finance.. the deal is now a £300 contribution and interest has dropped so payments are down. if i leave it another couple days wonder if it will change again??..ha.
 
The dealer has sent me a wee video to help me through the next week..not the best of quality but parts of it show the nice colour change in the Panther Black paint. Counting the hours!!

Very nice, I'm now considering Panther instead of Daytona! Think I need to see it in the flesh. Pig to clean though......

audi upgrades
I have just registered the S3 on https://my.audi.com/content/gb/myaudi/en/home.html and the first thing it is asking is to type in "this code" into my MMI to link with Audi. Does everyone have this or do I have the tech pack with connect?.. I am not seeing anymore of the extras though. Should I?

Finance details got emailed through today, has anyone else taken finance on used? I am looking to pay it off fairly quickly I.e. 2/3 months but cannot see anywhere on docs if there is an early repayment fee and or what amount of the interest will I have to pay?.. I want to take advantage of the 2 free services hence why I am taking finance.

I think that's only with tech pack.

I just logged in; where you click vehicle equipment it is usually there, not sure why it has gone? The only other thing is to see the original order form which should be with the vehicle, can't always believe what the sales person says.

Look at my post above regarding finance. Cancel it within 14 days of it starting and you pay no interest or penalties just pay the settlement figure within 30 days. You will still have your free servicing and the garage won't know, just don't tell them. The finance is with VWFS not the dealership.
