Hi,
Thinking of a retrofit for ambient door light bars like this http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php/184059-A6-Ambient-Lighting-Retrofit

Has anyone done this or similar on the A6 C7 facelift model year 2018> Wondering if the parts listed in the thread above are the same?

Also, is it possible to activate an ambient lighting menu (I have VCDS) in the MMI to control their brightness? Think I'd prefer to control them in a menu rather than hardwire into the analogue brightness dial that controls all the other lights.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks!

Yeah, been here but with a C7 not the C7.5 and chose the lazy option in the end:

However, I vaguely remember no green menu for the MIB based units onwards (if anyone knows better, please share how...)

So, if you really want these types of interior lights then a retrofit is probably the best overall option as the newer vehicles become more challenging to DIY :)

(Also, can confirm the no coding required for the lighting on the doors as these leave the factory with that coded on by default, recently disabled this on every door for reasons)

Thanks for the info, yes I believe it is MIB based.

Had a look around what adaptation options were available in VCDS and tried a few (eg. Ambient lights MMI/Car Menu + ambient lights installed etc + reboot MMI) but nothing new appeared in the Car or MMI screens.

Looks like the only option is to wire into the interior door handle ambient lights. Not the end of the world. Now what parts are available....
