I'm trying to use a standalone SIM Card which I want to use for phone calls instead of my iPhone. When the SIM is inserted it is recognised for data, but I can't seem to set it up to make phone calls. Is there something obvious that I'm not doing? IMHO the handbook is a little flakey. Thanks in advance for your help.

What plan does the sim card have and have a look at page 230 of the manual...

3.5GB of Data, 2000 mins, unlimited text. It's a cheap SIM only deal from Plusnet. I had to activate the SIM Card in a phone initially, and it worked ok.

My understanding of this was that phone functionality was available with the "phone box" option (footnote on pg 199 of the 01.2016 version of the manual). I've also installed a sim that works for voice calls in a mobile but only get data connection in the car sim slot.

I’d second that, I have a sim in mine and no option to call, but I don’t have phone box.
