Alarming Fuel consumption

Going from 2.0 to 3.0 I knew fuel economy will be lowered but 22 mpg is too low.

I would say you have a problem if you're only getting 22mpg. Even on my old 3.0TDI C6 I get around 35mpg.

Here is the scan under engine module

Seems like I need to change oil filter housing as thermostat is built into it.

Stealers want £360 for fitting as it's 3+ hours job. Part itself is £211 from them. But got it cheaper price here on part request.

Well my 25 mile round commute over the last 2 days (40% city with medium traffic and 60% motorways at 70mph with front/rear demisting and heated driver seat on) have both returned a 38mpg and a 40mpg average which is really impressive as far as i'm concerened.

All my journeys are in dynamic and probably all will be unless i hit really bumpy roads and decide to switch to comfort.

Really love this car and engine :D

Got the oil filter housing ordered. Will be ready to collect by Thursday. Need to find decent place for fitting now

Oil filter housing is changed and so does thermostat. Cleared fault code F265 and no more bad fuel consumption. Let's see how much miles can I get out of full tank now.

Yes. Part alone was £183

Garage charged £200 For labour. Took good couple of hours as complete front end needs to come off.

What was the cause of poor consumption? Oil filter, the housing?

There is a thermostat inside Oil Filter Housing which was faulty. Unfortunately you can't buy thermostat on it's own as it's all one unit so you have to change the complete housing.

did that show up on a VCDS scan or a bit of tinkering around?
Yes it showed fault code under engine module. I posted scan earlier. Initially I thought it's egr thermostat as there was no CEL on dash and temperature sits in 90.

Did search through different forums and found it's thermostat inside oil filter housing which was faulty.
