Hello,

I'm getting the 4-beeps on start-up indication from the alarm.

Does anybody know how easy it is (I can't see a guide) to replace the battery in the alarm?

Is it in the boot as part of the alarm unit on the driver's side?

Will I have to get anything recoded?

Thanks

JimP

remove the main car battery and give it a charge over night, are you known for doing short trips?

if that does not help, then obviously look into changing the alarm backup battery. the above is obviously the easiest

I need to order a whole new alarm module as the the batteries had melted all over the circuit board.

Its still fixable! Send me some pics of the damage, and I'll tell you how.

I've replaced mine with maplins batteries, 4 months now, no problems at all :)

It's not fixable when the contacts on the circuit board have been melted ;)

I tried the fix with Maplin batteries and it didn't work due to the damage on the board. It all went in the bin anyway so I'll be ordering a brand new module.

The damage mentioned is quite common, by the time you get symptoms its often too late and the battery has already leaked everywhere.

I picked up one from a newish A8 on german ebay for about £40 and fitted that instead.
