AJL Cruise control?

Does anyone know of a source with all the install / parts info to reto-fit cruise control to a AJL engine (mechanical cable throttle).

There's plenty for the FBW throttles but I've not managed to turn anything up other than a parts list for the cable throttles.

AEB/FWD 1.8T with cable throttle will be the same to widen the search, you best bet is ebay.DE as not many UK models will of come with cruise.

Not to sure on what bits are needed but id say more than whats in the link, ill see if i can find out, probably easier converting to DBW !!

@aragorn has done it, it requires a few bits, I believe he used a lot of parts from an A8/S8 as they were more plentiful

The parts are common to the A6 and A8 and all engine types with cable throttle.

You will need to make up your own wiring harness, and connect up all the vacuum pipework etc.

Would you by any chance have a list of the parts / wiring diagram? I served my time as a industrial electrician not too far from where you live so making up a harness / wiring it up doesn't phase me at all.

I dont have a list but i can give you a rough summary:

Parts you need from any Cruise equipped model:

Cruise Stalk with electrical plug
Cruise ECU with electrical plug
Vacuum pump with electrical plug
Clutch/Brake pedal switches with electrical plugs
Actuator bulb and linkage

1.8T specific parts (i got these from the dealer, they were only a few pounds)
Bracket for Actuator
Linkage (the linkage that came with the bulb (from a V8) was actually identical, so i'd maybe try it with the supplied linkage before buying the 1.8T specific one)

Parts you need from ebay or elsewhere:
about 3 meters of vacuum hose (6mm iirc)
A few T pieces to fit the hose
some multicore cable (i used 3 core mains flex for the run out to the pump and some multicore stuff i got from work to form the main harness.


I've got all the wiring diagrams too.

Sorry no. I ended up buying an S4 and breaking the TQS.
