Been doing a few long journeys recently in the new wagon and decided it’s worth sorting out the aircon.

Sent the Mrs over to ATS yesterday to get it regassed, Pressure check was ok and it still had some gas in.

She told me that they’d done the regass and couldn’t get the aircon to switch on tried pressing all the buttons with no luck etc so they drained the gas again and said to bring it back to be re filled when it’s repaired.

I checked over it last night and when engines cold the fan switched on/off with the ECON button as it should, you can hear a noise behind the dash that sounds like flaps being adjusted on the button press. With the engine off I couldn’t feel any play or movement from the centre of the compressor pulley.

Phoned ATS this morning who said that they couldn’t refill it as it wouldn’t let them because the compressor wouldn’t kick in and to take it to an aircon specialist to get repaired.

Now I’m under the impression that the compressor won’t kick in if there’s no or little gas in the system so how can they know the compressor isn’t kicking in if they didn’t put any gas in ???

Also how the f**k can I check it if they’ve left it empty

She’s told me that they definitely filled then they tried it and then they rained it again in case it needed to be worked on.

Let’s see what crap ATS come up with now

So spent lunch under the bonnet, the compressor is getting a voltage when AC Is on and not when AC is off, but I can’t see any movement on the pulley when AC is switched on/off does that mean the compressor is ********??

Recently repaired mine, had to do the compressor, pressure switch and condenser. I understood it if the compressor is faulty the fan doesn’t kick in, mine didn’t until I’d replaced the compressor.

Hmm that’s odd, my fan seems to be working fine and doesn’t seem to be in line with the symptoms of the pressure switch

My compressor was totally wasted, I tested it off the car and the clutch just made the faintest click when 12v was applied.

On replacement of the compressor I regassed the system and everything fired in to life.

One thing for certain, you have a deffo fault if the econ light doesn’t switch off.

Ah but the Econ light does switch off !

Maybe I’ll try sticking 12v to mine and see what it does, even if it’s still getting a 9.5v signal at the min
