Aircon issue. High pressure sensor open circuit. Any ideas?

    2008 A4 B7 Avant 2.0 tdi.
    Econ light came on and stayed on. Had a mobile guy come and check it out. Pressure test showed leak from sensor, could hear it. That was swapped and taken to a Vag specialist to get the fault code cleared. Came up as $333/00819 030 High Pressure Sensor, open / short circuit to B+
    Code cleared but came back again. reported this to the aircon guy who admitted he didn't fit a genuine Audi sensor. He is returning again to fit the proper one when he gets it.
    Question is, would a pattern part throw this fault code and will the genuine one clear it?
    Or am I looking at something more sinister and expensive?

    So, its now been replaced with a genuine sensor. Local indy says its the compressor at fault and they need to change that before being able to investigate further, voltage to the sensor plug is giving 12v. Can't afford to pay out £800 for a new compressor from Audi, or £600 for similar part to be fitted before they can go any further.
    Would a faulty compressor give an open circuit to B+

    Okey diddly dokey, got he full report now. Scan says internal damage to compressor so sending 12v to sensor to shut off system. Looks like its a new compressor. Just need to find out which one I need ! lol

    My B6 needed a pressure sensor and compressor to get the a/c working too, as well as a few rubber o rings (a/c dormant for years). I went for a genuine sensor from my local VW dealership, and a used compressor from Ebay. If you're lucky there's a few that can state it is tested/working and offer a short warranty. My b6 compressor was a Denso 8E0260805BA, and I replaced it with a Denso 8E0260805BJ from a B7 TFSI. I just made sure the pulley and hub looked the same, the bolt holes and electrical connector was the same etc etc. Fitted and worked no problem at all. It did get a bit confusing trying to cross reference which ones are interchangeable but in the end as long as the physicalities of the pump are the same it should fit! Get the part number off yours - it's visible while still on the car. Compressor can be fitted in half an hour or so, at least on the b6.

    Ok, so wiring checked, fuses ok, new pressure sensor, new compresor, re gassed and checked,

    STILL NO ****** AIR CON !!!!

    Any ideas anyone?

    If you’ve checked the wiring correctly and the sensor is oem, fault must be in the module. Might be worth double checking your work as this isn’t common.
    What does live data show for pressure (sorry if mentioned before, I’m on mobile)?

    The gas is the correct quantity and pressure, sorry dont have the figures. What module are you referring to , and can it be easily checked?

    My main gripe is that I just seem to be throwing money that I don't have at it and its still not working. So called experts are giving me bad advice. I just want someone to come along and say its this that needs doing, rather than you need to change this bit before we can go any further. I am nearly a grand into this and seriously getting close to sorning it and leaving it parked up.

    You’d check with vcds/scan tool via the AC module.
    The nature of car AC I’m afraid often requires rectification of the immediate fault in front of you before any further comment as to serviceability of the system as a whole can be confirmed. Good practice diagnostics and experience will often allow for a judgement call to be made as to the likelihood of a fix following repair, however any pro that guarantees a fix (in most cases) is being fool hardy...just too many variables (other faults could be present/masked etc). Just the nature of the beast.
    As for your present issue, the required testing to diagnose is very much limited, and getting to the bottom of it is a straight forward process...but that doesn’t mean the associated cost to do so will not be prohibitive.

    I don't have access to VCDS and the local ones to me on the map have been contacted but never got a reply. I will have to have another look on the map and travel further afield
