Airbag Control Unit Part Number

The airbag control unit in my car has the part number 8H0 959 655 B. Any idea what the last letter 'B' means? I am looking to replace it and two units are available with the same part no except for this last letter. A 'D' and 'G' are available. Are any other unit compatible with my part number?

acording to ETKA 8H0 959 655 B was dropped on 1/10/2004 and 8H0 959 655 D is the replacement

the further on the letter usually means its an updated part

Thanks, It sounds likely that the replacement unit 'D' may work in my car... Or Is it likely to cause issues?

It should work fine as it replaces the B

Bump ! stu_m can you help me out here my airbag part number is 8P4 880 742 B the one im getting is ending in 'J' will this be ok?
