Just having a look around and considering an air intake but not sure what to go for? Car is only going stage 1 at the moment and stage 2 would be as far as I would go, had a look at Bmc cda enclosed induction kit and also forge Motorsport twin take induction system, pretty new to the Audi so just wanting some advice on what's best thanks

The best current systems are either the AMDTuning,or Revo intakes.

The Revo is quite costly, but very good, whereas the AMDTuning intake is less expensive but also good.

The Twintake works, but is older and a less attractive(IMHO) engineering solution, but I could not fault Forge's build quality or backup either.

Another to consider is the ITG/VWRacing intake.

If you don't go beyond Stg2,you may be able to get away without one,but the benefits of using one are obvious in terms of power and torque.

Thanks for the reply ill check all of them out tomorrow, you seem to be the guy to ask anything your Audi must be crazy had a little look at your build thread, I take it you do alot of track days with it? Some project you have there anyways how long you been working on it? Sorry about the questions new to the forum

No worries.

Always happy to separate a new member from his/her hard earned cash!

I only know a bit about engines and suspension....some of the guys here know loads about programming, electronics and so on,and if you ever have a problem, this is the place to start.

Mine is probably at the far end of sensible, but it has been huge fun over 5 yrs now,and I've met and conversed with a lot of great people in the process,on here and VAGOC,without whom it wouldn't have been possible.

I don't do much in the way of trackdays, although I'd love to,as work just gobbles up too much of my time.

The car is a totally reliable everyday drive, and that's a testament to the people that built it.

I have a revo intake and had AMD too difference is just amazing, very smooth and better at lower revs it could be the revo map + revo intake flawless combination though as they were developing their map to suit their intake and tbh you can simply feel it.

Yeah that's why it took me over 6 months to join another forum as I joined vxronline and it cost me a few grand haha didn't think I was gonna do anything to this car but would rather have something to spend my money on think I wax my car more than I drive it tho haha

You have no idea how much this place could cost you!

I've got JBS Custom Code and an well happy with it and I think all their awards speak for their selves, as for the CAI I've just bought one from Matt that is the MTC you'll find him on eBay but message him rather than purchasing on eBay ;) .. ITG filter to go with it.

Soz for butting in but can you guys give me an idea on what clutch to go for as mine has starting slipping at 4000+ revs in 4/5/6, I was thinking helix stage 1 clutch and standard luk DMF?! Is that any good? Cheers

Either the Sachs and LUK DMF,or Loba and SMF.

Both will last you to over 400lbs of torque.

Cheers for that Alex, think I may have stolen the plate that would have done for you S3 AEX as mines Alex as well lol. Cheers mate

Where is best place to get the revo intake or the amd tuning ? Tried searching for the revo one can't seem to find it I'm useless haha

What are Audi like when you take the car in for service etc? I've had my S3 2 weeks now and ready for some more welly, thinking CAI then Miltek :s3addict:
I used to go Audi until I saw that they are somewhat regimented,I asked for the water pump to be changed on the cambelt change as known issues with impeller failures and they were like 'we don't need to change it as its okay'
I'd rather go to a specialist who's had good reviews and uses oem parts

this is were I've bought mine and their customer servie is amazing. Very helpful people that actually care about their customers. Remember me calling revo sales dept sometime ago and they were really unfriendly but things have changed for better imo.

This is the forge Twintake in my bay and I think it looks like one of the more attractive solutions, not keen on the open cone look in an audi bay

Contact either AMDTuning or Revo direct....that's the easiest way.

I wasn't really bothered by appearance, and as I said,I know the Forge works, but as an engineering solution,it's not appealing, and both the Revo and AMDTuning are capable of higher air flows from the results so far......that's more interesting to me,especially with what we have in mind for mine.

No worries!.....my kids got me one that suits me and my occupation better!

Twintake gives high LFT so not the best solution if you looking for reliability and solid gains. From my knowledge between 10-14% which is above factory limit.

I had the revo kit fitted to my S3, it was remapped at the same time - they dyno operator was very impressed at the result giving it was a hot/humid day - the car also had quite a few runs with trying different map file versions too.

Previously ran the ITG on my K1 but never had that dyno'd.

My own feeling is that the results from the Revo and AMD are the best currently, with the ITG or VWRacing version of the ITG a close second, and all the others behind.

The ITG works well on my car, running around 500bhp at 2bar,so that's clearly a good intake, but I can't try either the Revo or the AMD as both aren't easily adaptable to the turbo intake on it,but I'm hoping to try an AMD intake soon.

what are the benefits of the twintake then? Ive read some bits about them and am wondering what difference the two filters make? cheers

The point is all about where the major restrictions in the induction system are.

If your air filter is a major source of airflow restriction, then making it bigger, either by using a single larger filter,or in the case of the Twintake, using 2 filters, may reduce that.

This however doesnt get around the problem further along the piping in terms of the MAF housing, which,at 2.75",remains the narrowest area of the system.
The only way to improve flow here is to use the smoothest, and widest radius piping possible,as in the Revo or AMD,hence the improvements seen on both.

As soon as the airflow becomes turbulent, resistance increases dramatically, for very little increase in flow, and minimising turbulent flow is the aim with both these systems.

The Twintake is basically saying that the previously used single filter, was restricting flow.

I am with Alex on this I wanted the best intake possible that was going to giveme the best gains not the prettiest intake

I had some kind of Carbonspeed on mine (same design / similar to OEM) and was impressed.

That's for all the info I am not to keen on the open cone look ether so had a look at the carbon speed and forge one but if I am going to get better performance from it I would rather go with the revo or something it's under my bonnet so not like its on show only person that's gonna see it is me really, think I'm going to get the revo one ill see how much spare money I have after it gets it service and my headlight fixed :(

Open cone is maybe not very quiet but well worth the great performance increase. The revo intake so far is nice and progressive will see if the LTFT can beat the other intakes I had previously as this is crucial for low fuel consumption and engine cylinders/pistons temperature also everything above 10% will cut down throttle position leaving bhp on the table. More tests to come:]

What engine cover fits after you've put the CAI on?

Maybe getting confused here but if I put the revo intake on I need to chance the plastic cover.? That looks nice 😃 dont mind a bit noise

Is that the tts cover ? Did u have it painted? Do you have the parts I need cover long bolts etc that I need? Just so I don't look that stupid when I call up Audi haha

I notice u have another oil cap as well where's that from? Oh and I realised mmy last message was a bit of a muck up sorry was sending a quick reply on my phone when I was meant to be working haha also been on the phone to revo getting one ordered this week, what map you running shark?
