Hi All, does anyone have an after market headunit Pioneer/Alpine/Jvc etc that they have managed to link up succesfully with the steering wheel controls?? I'd love to go RNS-E but budget won't allow at the moment. There are some seriously trick units for half the price of the OEM unit.

i'm sure there is an add on connector that goes inline with the iso plug. done them on beemers, but i'm sure they are available, check out connects 2 website.

I have a Pioneer P4200DVD in my A3 all connected up with ipod and bluetooth and wired up to the MFSW. iirc you need to look for the connects 2 adapter to connect the factory harnerss to the aftermarket system. you could go and ask a car audio specialist to make sure of what exact part. here is how it looks in mine: (crappy phone pic)

Yh the left roller changes tracks or radio station, right roller changes volume. Click left roller and it answers Bluetooth phone calls, click right roller and it does the att (mute) on the stereo. Mode button changes the source. The button on the right that would normally be voice command activation does not work at all.

Looks good mate. Can anyone clarify what adaptor is required perhaps with a link? Could only find one for the 8L on the connect 2 site unless i missed it.

Mate it actually depends on what make unit you are fitting! When i fitted mine i searched for "Pioneer Audi Steering" and it would come up with loads of results.
shop around and look for a good price!
