Advice on S3 airbag code (via VCDS)

Hi All,

I have an airbag light on my S3 (2010). The code from VCDS is:
9437201 - Igniter for Driver's Airbag
B1000 11 [136] - Short to Ground

Any pointers to check before I take it into an auto electrician? Seen various posts on common faults re connectors under seats, clock spring etc. but I've not been able to find an exact match on the forum to this code?

NHN will be able to answer this but it seems to me as though 1. Your airbag has gone off previously and the fault code not reset after new airbag fitted or 2. Fault in the airbag itself.

My colleagues A4 Avant had the same fault but also had both passenger and drivers seatbelt pre-tensioner igniter faults. He had a very small collision which triggered everything but no-one realised the seat belts had fired.

I've had the car since September 2013 and airbag has only come on in the last couple of weeks. I can reset code via vcds but it returns after a variable time.

Update: this turned out to be faulty ribbon cable under steering wheel!
