Advice on purchasing A5 Tdi 2.7-3.0 automatic

Hi guys,

Im looking to upgrade (in 6-12 months) from my A4 B7 2.0tdi 170ps manual to a A5 TDI auto.

Im looking at the V6 TDI in both 2.7 and 3.0 but have some questions. Ive heard only good things about the 3.0tdi quattro as it has a strong box and awesome engine. But how is the 2.7 as the only ones ive seen have multitronic 2wd.... Arent multitronics crap???

All the 3.0 TDI ive seen are quattro and have the tiptronic box which is apparently good and strong.

Are all the 2.7 FWD with multitronic?
Are all the 3.0 Quattro with tiptronic?

Any other advice??

I believe that quattro only comes with tiptonic or S Tronic. Multichronic is only for 2wd cars, but are far more reliable than the older boxes. As for the engines, I can't comment on the 2.7 but my friend has the 3.0 in his B7 and its nothing short of amazing. Making progress is effortless and it still returns 45mpg. The 3.0 is the A5 is slightly stronger and the suspension set up better so I would imagine that to be a great pairing.
