Hi All,
Firstly, sorry if there is a buyers guide somewhere... I can't see anything obvious.

I've been driving the older b6 1.9tdi avant for the past 4 years.
It's been great but thinking of upgrading & have been offered a 2010 a4 avant 2.0 tdi 140 bhp I think & on around 84k miles.
It says it's an s-line special edition? not sure what the 'special edition' part means if anything at all.

Just wondering from current b8 owners, are there any common faults (minor of major) to be aware of if I go & have a look at this car?

Are there any engine codes to avoid, as I've read about the oil pump failures in the b7, just a bit concerned that an upgrade from a b6 might land me in some bother!

So any advice will be greatly received

Cheers

One thing you will notice is how crap they are on fuel compared to the 1.9.

Really, I'm surprised. With how ''eco" everything needs to be these days thought it'd be on par.

I could cope with a little drop on mph, I get high 50s on a run in mine at the moment.

I have had a look and it's not quite in the condition I'd have liked, but then it is 8 years old and priced accordingly.

Doesn't appear to be many options on it, so god knows what the ''special edition" means.

It drove fine as far as I could tell/ hear.
No dodgy knocks etc..
It didn't feel as tight as my b6, but I think it's more down to it being all thst bit lighter, on steering/gears etc.. so didn't feel wrong, just totally different.

Will have a think.

Can stop/start be turned off?

Another query, are the newer CR engines as picky with what oil they have?

I know the pd engines need pd oil, does the same go for this engine (caga) or is it a case of the correct grade oil being ok?

The car I've viewed has full service history, but the last 4 ish oil changes were yearly (which I like) but at a normal garage (albeit one that has a good reputation) not dealer/specialist. So guessing they would have just used whatever oil they have in the big drum.

( Must admit I'm one for over servicing where oil is concerned, I can't get my head around 20k oil changes... Call me old fashioned)
