Facelift Advice on next car

Go for the s6 or c63
The rs4 won't sound the same with just a red delete
If your budget strechs go for a 2015 c63 4. 0 biturbo for 35k
Or there are plenty s55 engined m3 dct or manual under 35k

I think what stood out for me, driving them back to back was the effortless, low down grunt of the C63. Secondary decat was insane. Unfair on the RS4 if I'm being honest. Needs a Miltek. Which is great.

Torque...lot of things said about torque and now I've experienced it in the flesh, I'm inclined to agree. It's kinda just...'there' with the C63. I suppose if I'm comparing the two objectively, the C63 has the better engine, the better exhaust and the better steering. Sense of occasion? Again, secondary decat upon start up alone is just sensational.

So...why do I still love the RS4? They both got lots of onlookers yesterday. The throttle response in dynamic on the 4 was incredible. I mean, I guess it even eliminated the torque issue. It was SO pokey. Violent coming on and off it actually. My S4 just feels like a sponge in comparison.

Yeah. Torque and occasion. Hard to beat that C63. But in the everyday world, I do need a car to do more. Anyone driven a C63 in the winter? M3 not for me. Never been a fan.

I use to love the c63 the engine is incredible and the sound of thunder but my only problem is that they are very common around by me now because you can pick them up for decent money. How does the c63 do on MPG as you wanted to use it for a daily car? Or are you defiantly getting a second car?

Me and my mate looked into it. Difference wasn't night and day. Spanking it gets him just over 200 miles per tank and could easily do over 300 on a long run. Now tyres...that's a different story haha. Appears to be 5-7000 miles per rear set?! wow! I mean, just wow. It's a pretty simple car. Just turn the key and it's great out the box.

I'll go there. One day. RS4 is more 'me'. Hoping to put deposit down on one today/tomorrow. Just checking the servicing/schedule.

I know right? My mate says he wouldn't let that be a factor in buying a car. Haha. I'd say to a lot of people on this forum that is definitely a factor in buying an Audi haha. Especially Quattro. And especially if you live in the country/surrounding areas.

I'll expect to see his C63 with snow chains.

Spoke to garage that have a cracking spec Panther Black model in. Price seemed too good to be true. Great mileage, virtually every optional extra and car appeared to have been in for every service point. As below:

Garage has spoken to the relevant Audi dealerships involved with the servicing and they confirmed that at no point has the S Tronic front or rear oil been changed .

Suggestions? Stay clear? Ask for it to be done and then ask for min 12 month warranty?

Cheers.

The knowledge available through owners forums is truly brilliant. Turns out the car I was looking at has driven 26k miles over its Front Final Drive service. And it was at Audi at 14k and 21k. They missed it!

Im not taking the hit. Unless anybody with experience or mechanical knowledge is better in the know?

I would avoid it. Gearbox warranty would be void and god knows what state the gearbox and diffs are in. Prob why it’s so cheap.

That's my main concern. The damage already done. The garage are selling it on behalf of the owner too. So it's a shame. Cracking spec but learned a lot.

Or negotiate a price you are happy with that leaves you some money to put aside as an insurance in case there are any future issues. You could commission a specialist report and get them to check out the state of the transmission oil and take it from there.

Evening.

I thought of this. Kinda. Seeing that there are pre sales inspection services out there. I basically said that to the garage selling it. "Who will take ownership of the issue now that it's known?"

They said they were Porsche specialists and their warranty (3 months?!?) is in house. So, they would essentially do the S Tronic box oil change (8k miles overdue) and the front/rear diff changes (20k miles and 6k miles overdue) before they sold it. But, they would not take it apart to check for damage.

I wouldn't have thought a pre-inspection would cover that either? Ya know, check for actual damage internally? Don't suppose @Robbe knows the cost for a new Transmission/front and rear diff? because that's what I'd want off the list price. Or at least 50%.

They won't take deposit over phone to take off market (fair enough) but it's a 320 mile round trip. What specialist report do you think could be requested?

The guy basically said there'll be loads of RS4s out there without this service done.

They'll tell you what they can to get you to buy the car. Any talk is worthless unless it is in writing on the sales contract. 3 months warranty is statutory minimum from what I remember. Did a quick search and looks like new gearboxes on previous gen RS4 could be 14 grand (main dealer prices) so you'd want to be getting a great spec for a great price if you were worried and have the funds to fix if necessary. Don't know who you could get to do a specialist report but there should be a few independent garages around that specialise in Audi RS cars and could be worth calling for a quote on any likely work needed or if they can do pre-purchase checks.

Thing is, there's no crystal ball for this - car could run fine for years. One with all the services could break down the day after you buy it. - obviously you would hope full services would help reduce the chance though

Appreciate the searching you done there. Ouch!! Simply not worth it! The risk I mean. Obviously there's always an element of risk but that is usually mitigated against with recorded, documented servicing. Think this car is off the table for me. Thanks buddy

Haha. I'm like a man looking in the fridge every 10 mins to see if something has updated in the sandwich making department.

Panther Black/Daytona Grey
2014 interior update
Aluminium trim
Black Pack if it's a great spec
Sub 50k miles
Around £30k
Lunar silver interior/buckets
Panoramic roof
Sports pack
Carbon inlays
20" V spoke Alloys
Folding mirrors
FASH through warranty

Anything else a bonus. I'm on it throughout the day mind you haha. Has to be part Ex due to me settling my PCP. Missing out on forum loved cars because of that.

It's a bit messy with transfer of ownership. I'm also not allowed to sell privately I think. I can settle the finance at any time but pretty sure I can't list the car for private sale. Either way, it's just messy. In the future, when I own an RS4 or any other car for that matter, I'll have much more flexibility.

Wouldn't touch that either. The front final drive oil change is deemed important and it often gets missed. You really need to go over the service history with a fine toothed comb. If you take out the extended Audi warranty and have a gearbox problem there is a very good chance they will decline to fix it.
If all the 38k servicing has been done that is about £1000 to £1200 saved.
I have just replaced front discs and pads at 30k miles and will be replacing rear discs and pads within the next couple of weeks. The discs are still in wear limit but the pads need changing, so I decided to do both.
With regards to mpg, on my B road work route of about 14 miles I get about 20-21 mpg. That is not driving hard, cars get in the way! I get about 220-240 to a tank.
On a steady (70-80) motorway cruise I will get 300. At 3000 rpm the car is sitting at 88/89 mph it really does cruise effortless.
There are a few cars put there now, don't rush and double check everything. The online history is a good indication, but I would always want to see the invoices to back it up.
Mine has a resonated Miltek that the previous owner fitted so I don't know how the sports exhaust sounded. He changed it after owning the car for less than 6 months. It does sound good I know Deano had a non res fitted to his when he had it and he thought it was too much after he got over the honeymoon period.
Have you been over to RS246, there is a lot of info there. There is a thread about servicing intervals and what should be done when. Let me know if you can find it, if not I will have a look.

I have sold loads privately when I have had pcp. There is no restriction, and transfer of ownership really easy.

But p/x is always easiest if the extra £1k-£2k doesn’t make any difference

The S6 had potential. I liked the shape. Audi need to make a big muscle car like the E63 etc. RS6 Avant NEEDS a saloon counterpart. The V10 Saloon was an utter animal. Screw handling. Haha.

The c6 is a bargain if you can cope with the handling on the subject of e63 the m157 is an amazing engine there was two recently beautifully examples one was storm_r8's he still might have it one was wrapped in black rose with a brabus exhaust both over 700 bhp they can be had for as little as 22k not these ones though

I think Deano really wanted to like the non res but the reality is something else! I never heard it in person but from the clips I heard it sounded awesome from the outside but living with the drone was something else. My resonated Miltek will drone with the flaps open in a high gear at low revs, easily fixed, just knock it down 3 cogs and go!
Front discs are about £700/£750 a pair and pads £320 a set plus fitting. I did mine myself. I picked them up off a forum member for a good price. The rear discs are £580 a pair and the pads £60 a set. Again I will fit these. I have polished the machining marks out of the aluminium bells and finished them in a nice brushed finished
I masked the inner and outer edges and sprayed them with a high temperature silver. This should keep them looking a bit tidier for longer, helped by the Gyeon rim coating I applied on top.
I am in Norfolk so maybe a bit far?

Good info there. Brakes what I expected roughly. Think I'll get my hands dirty too and replace myself when I get one. Maybe not the fluid though. I'll take to garage. Norfolk a bit far yeah. ******. I do like yours. Prism is it? Prism with black Pack is always one of the ones I'd like to secretly own but only look at from afar haha. I've gone from loving Sepang to thinking it's just a little shouty for a daily. Especially with a Miltek. The Panther Black is stunning in the flesh. Even in grey British weather it looked good with that burgundy tint.

Bank appointment in 2 weeks to secure the rest of the money with my deposit then I'm literally just shopping about.

I do like boring silver! Yes it is Prism.
In the sunlight it really looks good and the black pack was a must for me.
Panther is a beautiful colour but I have had a black car and never again!
I looked at a Daytona with black pack and that was nice.
Brake fluid I always get done at Audi. For the price they charge it is a no brainer.
Mine is in for an MOT in a couple of weeks. The 4 wheel alignment is being checked and an Aircon recharge, as that has never been done.
I will keep an eye on what cars pop up, maybe something you haven't spotted.
