Advice needed on a few issues please

Hello all, first post on here, always been a reader but never a contributor!

im currently having a few issues with my car A6 3.0 tdi le mans, 64k on a 56.

couple weeks back now, a numpty thought it would be good, to drive into my car (majority impact was rear o/s wheel, with a few scuffs on quarter panel and bumper. anyway thats all been sorted now through their insurance. however, directly after the accident, ive been having issues with my rear n/s tail light.... now i know there is a known issue with this, but i find it very odd that it has decided to show, directly after the collision.

the issues im having are the usual, warning lights for tail light out, rear indicator out and i believe also the fog light. the brake light at the mo, remains unaffected. all lights/ bulbs do work, just as long as it is before the warning light comes on.

i have returned to the garage where the body repairs were done and the estimator guy who initially dealt with the car, informed me that the light issue was a common problem. ( i knew this, but was merely trying to get a free repair lol)

i plan on calling the 3rd party insurance tomorrow, to seek their advice and to see if they can offer a fix, so everything crossed for that phone call...

also, for the past few days, im having issues with my fm radio. the majority of the time it will play fine, however, after 2-3 minute intervals, it will go silent for a second or two, then go back to normal. could this be linked together with the electrical issues with the rear tail light? or is it another thing altogether.

this is the third audi in as many years, and do plan to keep this one as it is a beast.

i hope some of you guys and gals, can offer me some advice on these incredibly annoying issues im having.

Get the car scanned with VCDS and see what fault codes appear, look at the VCDS section for the nearest member who may be able to help.

thanks for the reply. i have had the car in a local garage today, and they have managed to clean the connection to the rear light itself, which has solved the issue for now. I'm hoping it will last until at least Thursday when m.o.t is due.

the garage also did a full scan and it showed up all errors with the rear light, as well as glow plug 1,2 and 4 being a problem, but he assured me that this should not be a problem, until outside tempt falls around -20 degrees celcius???

in regards to the issues with FM radio. they seem to have gone..... however i am now having difficulties with connecting my phone to the in car Bluetooth. this was all working fine a few days ago. i can connect or 'pair' the 2 devices,according to my phone, but the car does not seem to show any sign of connection. (not showing the signal bars on the display).

Update: rear light and bluetooth is now working, however, sods law, my front o/s drl bulb has blown! I have m.o.t on Thursday , will this be a fail? The reason i ask is I'm working 6am - 6pm today and tomorrow and have read that it is a ball ache to change. Any advice appreciated.

Find a Halfords that is open until 8pm and take them up on their kind offer to fit the bulb for you. Will cost a little, but a lot less than a dealer and probably help you keep your sanity

Hi all,

Just incase anyone is still interested, i have now solved issues with my car.

i took the car to a car electric specialists in Middlesbrough and they have resolved the issue by applying a seperate earth wire on both rear lights. i have seen this option explained here a few times but was confident in tackling it myself and the total price for the job was just a tad over £57. small price to pay to get rid of those HIDEOUS warning beeps.

The 2 bulbs on the front end that were showing as blown are now in working order through some miracle. (i put it down to the problem with the rears)

The bluetooth issue lies with my mobile phone (galaxy S5) i believe, must be something to do with the new update on it.

The connection is very intermittent. It will stay connected for say 5 minutes, then disconnect for a few minutes then reconnect. Also whilst connected, if i am using the phone at the time, say sending a text etc then that will also disconnect the BT and then when finished it will reconnect. Quite annoying as it seems every time i go to call somebody, it has disconnected or it will disconnect half way through a call and i will have to dig for phone to place on loudspeaker, while stationary of course lol. Its really annoying me now. And baffles me as when i forst bought the car, around 3 months ago, it was all working fine.

My Samsung used to loose its connection when the screen switched off, say after 5 mins, when the screen is on it stays connected.
I downloaded a screen timeout app to the phone, it makes the screen stay lit up and the phone stays connected.

Another quick one as well please guys, I hit a pheasant bird thing yesterday and it absolutely destroyed my drivers wing mirror. glass, bracket and casing. brilliant. ive been quoted off Audi £300ish + VAT and then theres the Paint on top of that. my question is, whether i buy new or used, is it easier to paint the mirror whilst off the car or is it just as simple while on the car? the reason i ask is that ive bodged my broken one back on for now with a new glass, but not sure how long it will last. cheers.

Off the car would be better, it can also be given to a paint shop without your car being off the road while the job is been done.I know a good paint shop in Darlington. If that is any help.

Ive managed to source a second hand unit for £60, booked it in for paintshop for around £30ish. happy days.

In reference to your bit on the Firmware and satnav, i shall send you a PM now.
