Strange one this, did you just renew from the quote you was given by post/email? Or was it a brand new quote?

On my renewals, I get quoted a figure which clearly states 'includes admin fee of £xx', so I'm surprised your renewal quote did not include the fee? Even calling up for a new quote, the quotes include this fee, why would they add it on afterwoods?

I rang them to ask what my renewal price was, got told 475 ish then i accepted that and told them to carry it on.

Then that's how much you should pay? I've never had a quote where the renewal/admin fee is then added on top, and I've called loads of insurers over the years. Once they give you the price, and you agree to it, they go through the whole small print speech, and tells you that the quote is inclusive of the charge and taxes etc.

Well thats what i would of thought, apprently the 475 was the 'base' rate.
Il see what the representative on here has to say, i do feel a bit cheated espesh after telling my dad what a apparent good deal i had got! Lol

Just got insured up to the eyeballs with loads of benefits and nice cover didgerydoos - and I have to say, I'm incredibly impressed with both the fella who sorted it out for me, and the price! What an absolute treat - it's nice to see an insurer doing what they can to create a happy customer! Highly recommend!

Jon, just out of interest - when you did your renewal, did you make any amendments to your policy? Because I was just told that any amendments would be an admin fee of the same sort - so I'm just wondering if your extra cost was that? You might want to check if renewal constitutes as a change in your policy (which in respect, it does - since the change is the dates in which it's active...)

To be honest, you don't wanna be grumbling at that cost - insurance is incredibly hard to find for less than 500 quid these days unless you have a near brand new car. (My 2013 Audi A1 180 TSI Turbo Stronic was bought brand new, and I got insured for £340 a year - I'm not sure why it was so cheap, I figured maybe because of the car being brand new, less likely to drive it like a n*bhead, haha, less claims on them in the statistics, etc) - so... I dunno, might be worth asking about that.

In my experience, AF was really good - it took me 10 minutes to get the best quote I've had so far, and get insured. And my level of cover is really high aswell, including key cover optional extra - so I'm pretty impressed. Nay - incredibly impressed! I've been given silly numbers all day like £800-1400... I'm like... mate, I'm 29, I drive limited miles per year, I live in a nice area and don't drive like a tardis, and the last 4 years of my insured life has been with high performance vehicles. Sort me out! Lol. But only Adrian Flux were even able to step up to the table with a realistic sum. I'm a happy camper.

No, nothing changed on the policy. And tbf i am happy with the price, that isnt the problem, it was the slighness of the admin charge to a renewal.
I just hope someone from AF will message me and have a look into this for me.

Been with Adrian Flux for 2 years now, pay £240 fully comp for the year, so this discount should bring it down a little more.

Cheers

What's the minimum age before you can offer a policy? I'm 22, trying to get some quotes for my RS3 which should be here october / november (may well be 23 by delivery)

Just had a very disappointing quote from Adrian Flux. I thought specialising in modified cars etc, would have been competitive.

My only mod is a remap, mentioned this forum and was more expensive than most quotes on comparison websites. Oh well, looks like I'm sticking with Aviva...

Tbh mate, not sure there's any point. Your a good £150 more than my current premium, and would have to beat my current price for me to consider moving from Aviva.

Thought I share my experience with Adrian Flux with you. I got a quote on a modified Golf 1.8t and was a decent quote too, so I went ahead with it. Needed to send NCB, limited mileage, Modified list, and a copy of the MOT. Sent it all thru the 'MY ADRIAN FLUX' page and 15 days after I receive a letter threatening to cancel insurance as I did not send 1 copy of proof of address. News to me so I rang them up and a lady with some kind of attitude problem told me that I need 2 examples of proof of address. Funny how I get this hassle after the cooling of period of 14 days!
Then they tell me they haven't received NCB and the rest so I give them the limited mileage over the phone and resend the rest. If that wasn't bad enough I get an email saying they are still waiting for it. Think Adrian Flux are trying to wind me up. I have never had to give proof of address to any insurance company, its not a problem but why am I not informed on this when I take the policy out. Got a quote from Greenlight insurance which was about the same to be fair but did not require any proof and laughed when I told them about Adrian Flux wanting it. I really do think they need to get there act together they could potentially be good but my experience was a nightmare. I sold the car now and got an S3 and went with Swinton (also don't require any proof of address). I have emailed them cancelling the policy lets see how much they wanna sting me for!
PS Sorry about the grammar
I should also add this is my experience and once googled there have been a lot of unhappy customers but some do seem to have good ones... not many though :friendly wink:

Hi.
I'm really sorry to hear about your expediences with ourselves and apologise for any inconvenience caused to you. Just to let you know that it is common practice for ourselves to ask our clients for proof of address but appreciate it if you weren't informed when you took out the policy. To protect ourselves and are insurers it is sometimes necessary for us to ask for further items to finalise a policy. The can include items such as copy driving licences, utility bills, copies of V5 documents etc. Whether other brokers wish to obtain these types of document would be up to their own individual internal policies.
If anyone would like any further information please feel free to take a look at the following section on our website.

Thanks for the reply, sadly wasn't a great experience. I wish I was informed at the beginning of the policy, it all seemed to be just unorganised. What's done is done and to be fair any cancellation fee has been waived and money remaining.

Hi Burgo, We've had an initial conversation with AF and are waiting for information back from their under writers as to whether they will support the system and offer any recognition for installed vehicles...
As Thatcham is predominantly owned by and established to service the insurance industry, Portector should be recognised as the only official and tested solution to reduce this type of theft.. However currently it is down to each insurer/underwriter as to whether they offer and discount/recognition for protecting your vehicle with a fully certified product.
We are in talks with a number of insurers and will announce any that recognise and reward the reduction in the possibilty of theft once a Portector has been installed:

I just phoned up to get a quote. Firstly I could hardly understand what the receptionist was mumbling, something about a disability then I sat on hold for quite a while listening to disco funk. Won't be bothering again with AF. When I spoke to CKI it was a much more positive experience.
GRRRR hate getting insurance sorted :grumpy:

Hi Rog_B

Sorry you feel this way, one thing we pride ourselves in is that we have human receptionists for our customers to talk to rather than automated machines.

If you had any queries then by all means drop me a PM and I'll try to assist.

Kind regards,
Dan.

Is this discount still active?
Is so do we have to give a code or anything when getting quotes?

I got a quote off them a few days ago, I just mentioned that I was a member on here. It was a really good quote, cheaper than I expected and cheaper than most of the comparison sites and that's with all mods declared, went with some body else in the end though as they where £50 cheaper

Hi, if you call on the number provided (0800 587 6311) the quotes team will know you have come through from this forum and entitled to discount.

Hi,

Without looking at the details of the specific quotation I can't answer that I'm afraid. If you can drop me a PM with your full name, post code and vehicle registration I can certainly take a look for you.

Kind regards,
Dan.
