I requested a quote from Adrian Flux a couple of days ago and today i got an email telling me this;

"Looking at the details you have entered, we have determined that it is very likely that we can only offer you our cheapest rates over the phone"

Two reasons this annoys me!!

One; a week ago when i quoted, you had no issues in giving me a price...

Two: The information I have given you in that form is the exact same information you would get if I phoned up?!

Nothing is gong to change, I am not going to tell you what i have gotten it for elsewhere, I really do not understand why companies think this approach is logical?

Why mess me around emailing me just to tell me you want me to phone you up to get a the price...

I'm not insuring a highly modified car - it is a standard A3 with tints...

So flummoxed with this approach..

Why do insurers do this?!

I had a poor experience with them recently too mate, @ChrisKnottIns is well worth a try seriously helpful

Yeah I was thinking of trying them and Sky, as it stands Direct line are kicking *** with there quote, they are £200 cheaper than the last AF quote i got (and that was without the OH's points declared - I forgot them before anyone thinks i am pulling a fast one lol)

I just want a form i can go bish bash bosh, here is the info give me your best price.

Rather than phoning up three companies to repeat the same info.

I will give them a try - The price bracket i am in won't give much room for manoeuvre for anyone, it is verrry low!

It's interesting, i put a similarly worded post on my Facebook and there are several people who have walked away from the likes of AF, Sky etc just because you can simply send them your info and get a price back.

Personally I would have no issues phoning up to finish the process off, but i want the actual quotation to be easy - AF and Co. are losing lots of people because of this i reckon.

I'll send you a Pm quickly reference prices

I try Adrian flux every year just in case and they either can't cover me (I'm 47) or the quote is ridiculous.
This year I went with LV all mods declared £630, Adrian Flux £1200+ .......maybe I'm just too old lmao

Crikey!

I tried AF last year when my renewal was up - they quoted me a reasonable (but not cheapest) price for my Remapped Vectra (197bhp) but when i asked about insuring a BMW or Audi, the price skyrocketed to nearly five times what anyone else was charging. I was on the phone just like what eh, whaaat lol (I'm 26) lol

I dunno what I have done but Direct Line would not even give me a quote :uhm:

Not sure what's going on at AF, I was with them for a good few years non stop, they matched or beat other quotes for me. My last year with then, SKY gave me the best quote, AF got 2 quid away from that quote, and with loyalty, and the sake of not moving my account, I stuck with them. Last 2 years, they was nowhere near.

Hi,

The reason this email is sent is due to our quote system not being able to generate a quotation based on the information you had entered online, it can be a single piece of information that has resulted in the quote not being processed. If you had a quote sent previously then there must have been something different from the previous quote, as every online quote is manually processed by ourselves (It's not an automatically generated quotation)

If you can PM me your details I'd be more than happy to look into providing a quotation.

Kind regards
Dan

Dan,

I have sent you the quote info you have requested to see what you can do (first time ;)..

Why doesn't the email say what you have said to me though?

The way it comes across is that you want to know how much everyone else is charging me just so you can undercut (this applies to most insurers though to be fair). The fact that the last quote you offered me was so hugely different to quotes i can get on price comparison websites (with the same information) yet insurers always seem to be able to do a "special price" with a significantly lower cost highlights that it is about massively over charging and not giving people your best price.

This isn't an AF specific issue either a lot of insurers do it, my annoyance is price comparison websites are slated, yet for me they have obliterated nearly every other specialist insurer, with only one insurer getting to within £10 of them for the same (exceptional) cover. Your last quote which had no points for my OH on accidentally, was hundreds of pounds more than what I got first time from the likes of Direct Line for actually less cover..

May seem ranty, but I want an easy solution, here is my information - quote me, email to company a, b, c or form one two three, phoning up to play who can undercut who the most is really time consuming and gets pretty frustrating. I want a companies best price first time, rather than having to keep going around lots of companies. Imagine if you went into Sainsbury's and for every item you bought you had to negotiate on the price - you would go insane, why should insurance be any different.

Rant over.. lol
