Has everyone else had the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 fitted as standard on their 19 inch wheels? (245 45 R19)

I picked up a slow puncture, so during the week took it to get repaired and the place said it was unrepairable due to the foam on the inside. What foam? I asked. Audi apparently fit the "acoustic" version of this tyre which means it has a piece of foam glued to the inside of the type, to reduce the noise level.

They said they have no way to re-stick the foam after doing the repair, so won't repair it. Having now looked into it a bit more, this appears to be a relatively common problem, and whilst it appears to be repairable if you do it yourself, normal type places won't repair them. I went to two places, they both said the same thing!

I didn't even know these "acoustic" tyres existed, so something to be aware of. When it comes to replacing them, I won't be getting the "acoustic" versions...

Interesting. So they are both S-Line Avant's, and both built pretty at similar times. But with different tyre brands. I guess it depends on what was available at the specific time.

I guess so, I wonder if there is any difference in retail price of the two brands

Learn something every day, never heard of these before. Thanks for the heads up.

I have the Pilot Sport 4s and have had two punctures in the last two weeks (very, very annoying).

They were both repaired by my local tyre place (not a big name place) - they didn't mention the foam inside.

We had our avant delivered with the Perelli P-Zeros (on 20") - seems they really have a pick & mix of rubber at the factory

What’s the ride like with the 20’s ?

Not done enough miles in the car yet to really know, and I went with the upgraded suspension (not the air suspension but the adaptive) but so far it's been pretty smooth. Came from 18" on an A3, but despite the bigger/lower profile the car is more comfortable on the A roads I've been down.

My last RS3 had the foam in the tyre & I got a nail in one of them. My local Audi/VW specialist repaired it by removing a small section of the foam where the nail had come through & it never proved to be a problem?. Sod scraping a nearly new tyre. If there worn maybe but mine had only done a couple of thousand miles & it was like new.
