AB's Sophisto Grey MY20 G01 BMW X3 M40i

I’ve put down a deposit on a Sophisto Grey X3 M40i today! Proper excited but it’s going to be such a long wait until it arrives in December :grimacing:

Until then I’ll have just make do with your photos @Audi Bairn

The support on these was already pretty strong but since my mrs is a teacher I managed to get an even bigger discount through BMW UK forces

Yes please!

I defected a couple of years back from my A4 to an M140i. Needing something more future proof but I just had to keep that glorious straight 6

Sorry, meant to say, Nev here, and your name? 1st names here

What spec did you go for? I love Sophisto

Mo here. I just ended up going with the tech pack and M Sport Plus Pack. Really looking forward to seeing the proper M seats you get now, I can pretend I’m in an X3M instead haha

Hi Mo, nice one. I do wish I went Tech Pack...next time, but went Pano roof, folding mirrors, M Plus Pack (this was before M seats, but £1k cheaper), and have added full screen CarPlay.

Mine is Carbon Black, but given where we live with all the dust and gravel track, will probably go silver next time, or something like Sophisto or donington.

BMW were doing cracking deals on X3M’s at the end of last year, ahead of it catching up with ID7 etc, could get one for pretty much the same as M40i!!

Here is mine after I new car detailed and ceramic coated.

Looks beaut! If I could be bothered to keep it spotless all the time then Carbon Black would have been my pick as it’s the best colour available

Yes I remember there were deals to be had on the X3/4M last year but from what I’ve seen the M40i is the sweet spot in the range for everyday usability

I’ve watched reviews where the M40i was tested alongside the X3M and the drivers of both agreed the M40i was a better drive, although I bet the the X3M does sound good.

Some random pics from our trip up North last week.
Including a fellow X3 parked up alongside us, 22mpg with ‘van in tow, 38mpg without.
The M40i just passed 5,000 miles and still love driving this thing.

A snow foam and wash / rinse plus tyre dressing.
Caravan takes ages and the roof ain’t for anyone scared of heights lol

Some shots from a recent break. First time towing on my own. Wife followed on in her car as she couldn’t stay for the full duration. That’s hers across the road in front of the caravan site.

Random pic of the X3 on Gleneagles estate yesterday. Was stunning in those weather conditions. Resisted doing snow donuts as it was a bit rutted / frozen and there were a couple of really expensive cars parked lol

Was so good we went back today :tearsofjoy:
Big open spaces, no need to bump into anyone and incredible surroundings, especially with the hotel and golf course closed.

Aye, the quieter the better for us Barry. You might’ve been better somewhere like Canada Woods?

The wife’s M135i has arrived at the dealers.
They sent us a video today just after it had come of the transporter. Even although it hadn’t been prepped or anything, it looks good.
Likely collection next weekend.

Big savings in the future if you wait until 1 March to register. My car has arrived too but nearly £100 a day saving by waiting until 1 March . Difference in value between an 18/67 and an 18/18 is £3250 ! Worth checking the saving on the BMW?!
