I have an 00309 ABS Return Flow Pump (V39) error. I can see the pump is easy to replace except for the bleeding of the brake lines afterwards.

Is there any reason why it wouldn’t be a good idea to do the swap with a second hand unit from eBay and then take the car into a garage to have the brake fluid topped up properly with lines bled etc.?

You'd have to bleed it manually anyway otherwise you'd have 0 brakes, and then the garage could perform the full bleed as long as they know how to

I would hope a garage would know how to!

BTW, I assume the handbrake would continue to work as normal?

Well I got a used pump and decided to swap just the electronics (the control module) which I managed to do without having to disconnect any brake lines. I noticed the lower 2 torx screws were rusty and the watertight seal damaged in the same corners. Could this be why it’s failed?

I coded in the new control module and interestingly the login code was the same as the old one on my car, I thought it would need to use the code from the donor car but this wasn’t the case!
