Abs module

Hi guys I have a 1999 s3 apy engine code and I have been having an intermittent problem with the ABS light I have scanned it with VCDS lite and I cannot get a response from the controller. I have since figured that the abs module itself is faulty. I have found a few on eBay just wondering if ones from an a3 will fit or does it need to be a Quattro.
Also I have heard that they need coding after they are changed is this true?

Not the most enjoyable job, but far from the worst!

I didn't need to code anything in at all, just fitted, and it worked!

If you plug into vagcom it tells you the part number of the module, but I guess if you have no comms you'll struggle to do that.

You might get lucky with a well placed camera phone pic from underneath, give it a try!

Thanks a lot prawn I got one from the same year s3 coming so should be ok let's hope I can get my haldex working for the first time can't wait

I repaired mine this weekend as a new module was going to be 1100 quid. Followed this guide and soldered the 2 connections that connect the hydraulic pump to the circuit board. ABS light now gone.
