A8 1997 17" Sport wheels -- will 255/50 17" fit?

I have a 1997 A8 with 225 Z rates Michelin Pilots (with 65k mi!) Tires are still good, but have the opportunity to buy Continentals, stock on the 2000 A6 4.2 5-spoke premium sport wheels. They are 255/50or60 with 3,ooo miles.

Has anyone put 255s on the A8 17" sport wheels?

Appreciate any thoughts or suggestions.
