Part number for new part i used was 4G8920985L . Was taken from an A7 2015.
My car is a 2013 plate A6 Black edition, with RMC.

Couldn't 2015 be a mix of facelift or pre
-facelift?

Also, could CANBUS software version affect things?

Yeah, Installed and running.
My current issue is the MMI control unit won't fit back in properly so it's out by about 1cm.

How did you go about doing the mileage? Was there much coding involved? have a 2014 A6 also with RMC. Any tips?

Coding is easy. Copy current coding out and just paste it into your new one, then check a few bits to make sure it’s right (for example, mine showed RS6 boot logo),
Mileage was done by CocoTech Bradford. 5 minute job

I've got VCDS so I guess I can do the coding myself. I live in Leicester so if possible I'd like the mileage done somewhere not too far.

no, that requires an extra part i dont have.
The part splits up the optical cables so the map can feed back to the cluster.
I arent aresed i rarely use the nav anyway.

taking cluster out is not that difficult off the top of my head prise the chrome trims that will reveal 8mm bolts
you have to losen the pop up display to acess one bolt..top steering shroud pops up

and hardware does it matter which part no and hardware no cluster i purchase to adapt tp my car..
obviously i know the dials would have to be similar ..
componenet protection and mileage wont be a problem,
just want to get the right clock to suite as there are many different versions..
any info appreciated..

I’ve just done mine and copied all the coding over, it’s works to the point where it just says SAFE. What have I missed out?

Component Protection needs removing with ODIS with a connection and license to the GeKO server at your dealer or specialist.

So a bit of an update, I managed to get CP removed from a very good VAG specialist based in the Midlands. They even corrected the mileage on the clocks for me I had taken most of the trim parts out prior to heading over so they had a minimum amount of work to do. They only charged £60 so for me it was a steal.

I have noticed one thing though. Even on a full tank of fuel the miles to empty reads no higher than 470 miles. The older cluster read in excess of 600 miles. Is there something wrong with this?

I’m still waiting for one piece of trim (which I screwed up when removing) when that comes I will try to do a full how-to on removing the cluster. Unless someone has done it already.

They didn’t mention anything about the fuel issue. It’s winding me up a bit.

Lukus mentioned that an extra part is required to make the maps work with the rmc, is anybody aware of what that part is?

I think it's a fibre optic cable, but I don't think it will work with the RMC versions of the MMI.

What do you mean? What version of the MMI do you have installed? If you have basic RMC MMI then you will be able to do it but will not be able to see live maps on the cluster, just a picture of an arrow telling you which way to go. If you want the maps then you have to do a full MMI upgrade to 3G or MIBII.
