Hello All

I just need some advice, my a6 broke down 2 miles away from home, showing low oil pressure, and then a horrid noise coming from the turbo I switched the car off. Called the RAC and they came to inspect the car, the bloke seemed to be familiar with this issue and mentioned it was the balance shaft that needs replacing, he also mentioned the turbo will need to be reconditioned also but engine is fine. He mentioned you can buy a balamceshaft kit
from kmb parts and Zed performance. Has anyone used any of these kits and can recommend a place I can get this work done. I am based in Leicester but willing to travel to a reputable place.

Kind regards

Qasim

Hi Qasim I ve had the same car and the same engine on it..mine didn t fail on me but another friends of mine did,so if you switched the engine straight away it s ok if not the whole engine will get in troubles..but as you described the whole situation you are fine the shaft is a very inexpensive bit like a hex key the turbo will need some attention but otherwise the car should drive again...and yes this is a big one on these engines...the oil pump shaft failure. All the best

I think I've just got unlucky here, the car was switched off and recovered back home, I am hoping it's just the hex key and turbo I need to sort out.

The trouble is finding a reputable/specialist place who do these on regular basis.

I am based in Leicester so if any of you guys have a recommendation for the hex key and turbo repaired pleaseet me know.

Also what is the approximate cost to get this work done.
