Hi all, hoping the collective knowledge on here can help? I should be picking up my new car on Friday, a 2009 a5 cab 2.0tfsi s line. Question is: what should the exhaust look like? It has a single pipe at each side, but reading various things online makes me think it should be twin pipes on the passenger side? I wonder if it has had an aftermarket exhaust fitted? The pipes are very unsightly, less shiny than the pipes in my 13 year old a4 cab!

You're thinking of the 2.0tdi, they have twin pipes on one side car. The petrols have one pipe on each side.

Apart from looking like a wheelbarrow, I prefer the look of a pipe on each side rather than both on the same side.

As above. twin single exhaust on the 2.0tfsi cab and sportback. Believe the 1.8TFSI coupe also has this exhaust.

Single twin exhaust on one side for the 2.0TFSI coupe.

The 3.0TDI used to have two single exhausts on each side as well, but very recently had to switch to the single twin exhaust like the 2.0TDI to accommodate the AdBlue tank.

I like that mine is greedy and has two twin exhausts :p

Thanks both of you, that puts my mind at ease! Dr Eskimo, you're just showing off ;-) ( I don't blame you though :--))

Any recommendations for a decent exhaust that sounds a bit meatier? I'm after something similar to the standard V6 TT exhaust, rumbly while cruising and shouty when pushing on?

I've been looking for a better than stock exhausts for my 2012 A5 coupe. I've heard that aftermarket exhausts will kill my mileage. Any truth to this?

Hi vagcabby, thanks for that! Away on holiday at the moment so struggling to sort anything, but my tips are so black I was going to order some chrome ones! Had a quick skim through some of that thread, and I am unsure how things have moved on from the start of the thread? Is the advice for anyone with this engine to pay for the oil consumption test and then Audi should replace the piston rings free of charge even if it does not have full Audi history? I have only done 200 miles in it so far, car has had the last 2 services at non-Audi garages, but proper VAT registered garages, one just before I got the car. Oil level on MMI showed just above half when I had a look, but hadn't realised the significant of this..... I spoke to Audi CS about any outstanding recalls on my car and they said nothing outstanding. I don't have any evidence of previous engine rebuild, car is on 72k miles

Additional question: what oil is recommended, and where is best to get it? Should probably have some handy for top ups!
