Hi everyone, I am a proud new member of the Audi A5 owners club
I am loving the car, but have noticed the fuel consumption is much higher than the official figures. Admittedly I am still running her in, but on a run to Scotland I couldn't get the fuel consumption better than 30 and that was a struggle. She is a multi-tronic, but it should still be returning 45ish on a run according to the official figures and taking away 10%. Strangely, the urban consumption is about 26 which seems fine.
How have other people found their consumption? I wonder if it may be something to do with the fact that it is new and hoping the ECU will enter a more economical phase after the first 1000 miles.
Would really love to hear how other people get on.

Hello Dezza
I bought the same for my wife, new on an 11 plate. It is truely a beautiful car but it does drink. I don't look at fuel consumption in scrutiny but I do know it tanks up on about £70 and only when I am driving it (with the kids in the back being the only time) do we get anywhere near 400 miles to the tank.
Happy driving

Simon

Dont take so much notice of what they claim to do, use that as a guide line, after you have done about 5000 miles you will start to see an improvement. If you drive them more hard you will use more fuel obviously. It should be fine.

Cheers guys, I think it's a culture shock more than anything as I had a Golf diesel before this and that could get around 700 to a tank, but then I shouldn't compare it as it's not exactly apples for apples, but then when you look at Audi's figures it says 50 on a run, so I was expecting around 40 at least, but it doesn't go over 30/31 even at moderate speeds on the motorway. With that said, I am still very happy with the A5, it's such a pleasure to drive it :yum:
