Just wondered what you dtm owners have used? Have you gone with oem ones or is there a better alternative?

Any idea on oem cost?

I have the spec edition which uses same brakes/discs I believe.
In which case the front eom discs are £166 each from dealer. dunno bout elsewhere cheaper.

To be honest that's not a bad price, I was expecting more than £330 for a pair from the dealers

That being said I am not sure if that is inc or exc vat. I think its including though.
I was lucky and managed to get a new set off Ebay for £195 for the pair they were selling off cheap from a wrong order they placed.

Hey Ash,

Depending on were abouts you are based. Most Audi delears offer a fixed maintenance price list for vehicles over a certain age.

That the price for front pads is £139 and for front discs and pads is £279.

Link reference http://www.audi.co.uk/owners-area/servicing-maintenance-mot/fixed-price-services.html

Now this includes fitment as well as a 1 or 2 year warranty on any of the parts fitted.

That said initially I had a slight argument with the dealer as they said to me they cant do it for the fixed price and I said well its stated that you can as its what you advertise, so it turned out that if they did it they would be making a huge loss as it worked out to around £540 "for discs and pads" as the DTM has drilled 320 mm discs in front with special pads compared to the normal 2.0t that have 320mm but non drilled discs and ordinary ate pads.

Well I took it up with them and said that on the website it qualifies as the vehicle is up to a 2 litre. The only exception is RS and S models including the Audi S3 as well as any vehicle fitted with ceramic brakes.
But low and behold they did it for me and funny enough ever since that incident every other Audi dealer I have been to they have done it with out any question.

So if you want your stock option. I suggest going to Audi to get it done.

On the other hand if you want to go bigger and better you can upgrade to 345mm disc which come standard on the S4 in the B7 range thou they arent drilled but they do offer more braking area. As our vehicles technically have the S4 calipers. The only downside is you may need to shave the caliper on the top to get the disc to fit, because I believe the S4 has a different caliper carriers. That said you can easily buy new carriers and not have any issue or just buy a second hand pair. Its really up to you and your budget.

That is the discs and caliper braket I was referring to now I know you can order those caliper brackets on there own. I will try and source the link.
If memory serves me correct this one can be used http://www.ecstuning.com/Volkswagen-Passat_B6-FWD-2.0T/Braking/Performance/Front/Stage_1/ES8542/

Your a star mate, wasn't expecting this much info so thanks for taking the time.
And I did notice the fixed price you refer to so might have to ask them lol, I'll tell them others have been done so I want the same, thanks again for the info bud

Thats a good tip about going to the dealers, in this case you are probably getting a reasonable deal. I still like doing it all myself so in your case I would use Pagid drilled discs,

£110 for the pair and get some red stuff pads. Been very impressed with these on my 3.0 TDI B8 and worked very well on the track at Curbrough. £90 so £200 all in for parts.

No problem to be honest in the 3 times I have had the brakes changed. First time was the above story. Second I just let them crack on and they realised I had drilled discs and not solid discs in the front and came out to me and said they would have to order it and do I mind waiting while they get the delivery and because of that I got it for half the price..

And the 3rd time I took it in they completed the job and everything while I was enjoying my espresso and biscuits courtesy of Audi. Then when the vehicle was done the service lady walked out with me and told me what they did the usual speech. Then I said to sorry you have put solid discs on here and not drilled. So I said there was previously drilled discs on and it should come up on there system correctly. Thou in there defence because my car is from Portadown Audi in Northern Ireland. They couldn't pull my reg once she manually put it into the system for 2006 Audi DTM balbla. She said you are correct and you have the incorrect stuff on sorry for the inconvenience would you like to book it in again or would you prefer to wait. So because I waited I got more espresso, new drilled discs and pads and my next service was free :)

And with regards to the above discs and pads that is a good combo and have used it previously on my other Audis that I have owned - The sister company euro car parts is a whole £2 quid cheaper if you interested in going down that route. http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/A...e394d14fd96d59b565789510a00396a6745dd5&000027

In relation to fixed price. It is at their discretion as to whether they do it for the fixed price or not with these discs on a 2.0T. They certainly wont honour it at my local dealer cos they are idiots.

I did forget to add the £15 discount for spending over £100 so the brake discs would work out to £95 and £90 for the pads makes a grand total of £185. I don't know if there is a similar discount on ECP. It would be unusual for ECP to be cheaper.

Oh yes I forgot about that discount when you spend over a certain amount. Thou when ECP doesnt have those stupid "fake 50% off everything sales" then they still usually are cheaper as most clubs including us I think we get 25% discount off everything.

But they smart they disable the codes when they have "there sale" going. Thats why I never buy when they have there 50% off sale.

Because they just add so much mark up on it prices and make people think they getting a good deal when they actually not.
