Hi All,

Hopefully posting this in the right place - I've been using OBDeleven rather than VCDS.

I've recently fitted a detachable towbar to my car. The nuts and bolts bit of the job was surprisingly easy and the wiring adaptions wasn't too bad either.

I've tried to do the coding with OBDeleven. Whilst some of it has gone ok I cant find some of the long coding or adaptions that the instructions say to change and as such I've got Pre-sense and lane assist warnings when I start the car.

In the central electrics module - 09 - I've activated the control module in coding but the instructions say "Adaptation -10
Adaptation channel:
networking trailer connection device -> installed"
I can't find that anywhere!

In the Front sensor module - A5 - I need to change the coding for "trailer electrics" in the coding. I can't spot it in the list anywhere!

Can anyone help? Can you point me in the right direction, or if you know the bytes and bits to change let me know, or even if it can't be done in OBDeleven, point me in the direction of someone with VCDS that I could use in exchange for a few beers?

Thanks!

After the issues above, I thought it might be helpful to others to share how I got the coding to work with OBDeleven

I had some issues with obdeleven and coding the car to accept the electrics. I couldn't find some of the options between the instructions I had and the names of bits and bobs on OBDeleven.

As always, please ensure you are comfortable with the coding
changes you will be making to your car. Whilst these worked for me, I cannot
guarantee they’ll work for you and I am not responsible for that.

Secondly, I purchased and fitted a car specific wiring kit from PF Jones
(UK). It came with good installation instructions. I also looked on the
Westfalia and Brink websites at their instructions. All are very similar but
none are 100% foolproof.

These are the changes I made using obdeleven:

First, Activate the trailer control unit: On the page of installed control
units, click on the red button in the bottom right and scroll down and check 69
- Trailer. This control unit will now appear on your main list.

Second, you need to activate some of the options within the other control units.
NB. Depending on your car’s specifications you may not have some/all of
the options. For the control units you don’t have listed, you can ignore the
coding change.
Please take installed/coded/yes as interchangeable.

09 - central electrics (security code 31347)
Long coding: hitch_ecu - change to
installed

46 - Central module comfort system
trailer monitoring – change to active
trailer control unit – change to installed

3C - Lane Change Assist
ECU for draw bar – change to with ECU for draw bar
Or
Trailer control unit – change to installed

17 - Dashboard
Trailer – change to yes

6C - reverse camera system
equipment_ahk/trailer detection – change to installed

74 - chassis control system
Trailer – change to installed

10 or 76 - PDC controller
Trailer – change to trailer device can be removed manually

13 - controller distance control (security code 20103)
Control module for towing sens/Control module for trailer – change to installed

A5 - front sensors driver assistance system
AAG/Trailer electrics – change to coded

6D - boot lid electronics controller
Trailer/controller for trailer – change to installed

Hey @kip1986 !

I have the same issues...all installed, and now, apart in Gateway, no trailer option to be activated are showing... :( (I'm doing the job with VCDS)
So you are doing "long coding" for all of these ? Cause you just say it for the first one, and after only the options to change

I used OBDEleven. From what I remember, I only had to use long coding for the first one and for the others the options were there to just click on and change.
