A4 b9 1.4tfsi timing belt

Sorry if this has been asked before. Does the a4 b9 1.4tfsi have a timing chain? A timing belt?

Please can you advise which one and how often it needs changing?

I've got an A4 B9 1.4tfsi and on the myaudi app under service/additional work it lists camshaft drive toothed belt: renew every 140,000 miles

Will follow this post i have a3 with 1.4tfsi 150bhp cod but keep getting conflicting answers both from dealerships and online. My audi app says 140k miles but dealership service dept says every 5 years. Strange tho that when i did an enquiry into purchasing an identical car sales say every 140k miles mmmm

Normally with these kind of things it's what ever comes first - 140,000 miles or 5 years

I only do around 10,000 miles per year so my car will only have around 50,000 when the time comes, plus I'd normally get the water pump changed at the same time

Spoken to my mechanic and he said the mileage is based on if you average 15k per year say. He said most timing belts don’t need replacing till at least 60k. All depends on the mileage. Mine is almost 5 years old but only has 33k on the clock

I have just had my timing belt done there at 69,000 miles and 5 years old. The Indy recommended it. If I go to book a service on Audi.co.uk, enter my registration and postcode, under services for my car it states that the cam belt should be replaced after 70,000 miles. It’s all a bit of a shambles, who knows where you stand if the belt or tensioners fail.

Had mine done a month ago, 5 years old on 34k. Local Indy done it, took it off and said it was fine. But for £321 better safe than sorry

Cambridge Audi gave me a quote of £700 to change the cam belt for my A4 1.4 tfsi, i feel like it's a bit too much. has anybody done this recently?

Not in your area but Audi Sheffield has recently quoted £599, Audi Huddersfield £635. A local VAG specialist using dealer sourced parts £425 including updating the electronic service record to show the work has been done. The water pump doesn't need doing at the same time but would be about another £50 if you wanted it replacing too.

I have an A4 Avant B9 1.4TFSI. I called three independents this morning about getting the timing belt and water pump replaced. One of them mentioned that for my variant of A4, the water pump is on the other side of the engine and is not normally replaced along with the timing belt. So far, most threads in this forum recommend getting both changed at the same time...What do others think about what this independent said?
Also, they said they typically use INA timing belt. Is this a good brand? or should I insist on Audi genuine parts?

When I owned this car I had the timing belt changed by audi. They told me the same the water pump isn't changed as its in a different part of the engine

For the timing belt I personally would only use genuine parts
