My 2.0tdi for a few months would shake intermittently in idle and also when accelerating normally.

Around a year ago i had my egr valve change, for a different issue, so this rules this out as a solution?

Today i went to a garage who replaced the throttle actuator (as EM sign came up saying it needed replacing- well it came off on and on), this now stops the car from juddering on idle (for now) but still shakes when accelerating. Not too confident on the garage as this fix cost me just over £400. Next step they said was to replace the transmission oil, if that doesnt work then transmission work, to replace the oil it is just under £250.

Few months back when i used to put the ac on it would reduce the juddering, but now doesn't make much of a difference

Anyone had this same issue before? Any fixes that worked for you?

Thanks!

not sure if thats your problem, mine is manual and has the juddering on acceleration just like you. ive had a new throttle body put on and has made no difference.( had error code )

Yep same here had error code for throttle actuator, so got that replaced.

Audi master tech said it might be , possibly fuel injector, but he didn't sound convincing. Audi Specialist said it might be transmission oil change needed or even the drive shaft, possibly, local garage said it might be engine mount, possibly!

No one seems to have a clue, and guessing from one point to another is going to cost me more than the car is worth!

when you replaced the EGR valve did they replace the egr valve cooler as well which sits underneath as 9 time outs of 10 it the egr valve is sooted up then the cooler will also be .. not sure if that will make any difference but you never know

Im not too sure to be honest, i took it to an audi specialist at the time (under a year ago), went back there 2 weeks ago and its no longer an audi specialist and the previous owner wasnt there so didnt use them again.

If its on idle and acceleration it could be injectors (dont know the eng word for diesel inj sorry). If its a PD inj system u will hardly find the problematic inj. via diagnose(computer) since parameters arent rly accurate for it. I had the same problem, firstly it would judder only at full throttle then it became worse with time/miles. I checked them with orig vag tester(odis) at idle/driving/full throtle and the parameters were within normal measurment values. U can try your luck with those diesel fuel aditives, i used a full 1L and topped up the tank, and after around 800km the shaking/juddering dissapeared, now i’ll see how long it will last. Worst case scenario is new injectors or repair.

If its shaking/juddering only while accelerating could also be the inner ‘rings/bearings’ of the shaft/front axle that is worn off (also dont know the exact name for these parts sorry), the shafts that transer the power from gbox to the wheels. Also known issue once the car has high mileage, tuned and/or driven ‘agressivly’. Just a few ideas, hope u get it fixed soon and that it wont be too expensive.

Cheers.

thanks, will get the drive shaft looked at then, as one of the mechanic did mention that!
