Hey guys,

I have recently installed cruise control to my car, i then took it to my local garage that can activate this for me via VCDS/VAG-COM.

When plugging in the laptop to program the cruise control in, the guy was having difficulty getting the stalk to activate, he said he could paste in or type in a long number that will change a number already saved. With this long number it will activate my cruise control.

So if it is possible could one of you kind people who have access to VCDS and you own a 2.0t, could you possibly connect up your car to your laptop and get me this long number please?

If not can someone please point me in the right direction as to where i will find these code numbers?

Many thanks,

Joe.

Get someone to code that knows what they're doing, as you don't copy & paste.

Its a straight forward job tbh, again find someone with better knowledge it it mat cause more issues.

Look on the ross-tech vcds technical forum I think there is a how to guide in there..

They are well known VAG specialists and he even said this should be a straight forward job but its not communicating with something or other? He didnt mention anything about copy and paste its just how i described it as im not that tech savvy when it comes to this stuff.

If you have to use the long code then just use the helper thing. It takes your existing number, you tick the extra option you want and it gives you a new one.

I take it this is all done in VCDS? I'll just go back and see what they can do again.

Yes. In the guide on here it says to use the 'coding' function in vcds. This wasn't available one my (2007 cabriolet) car, I think I had to use 'coding II' which only gave a log coding option.

I think this is where he got to, he tried a certain way but then went to the long code section, which is the long code I am looking for to activate this feature.

I've now read up about an SVM code or something, I take it I need to get in touch with Audi for this?

Failing all this I might just buy a brand new stalk and see if that helps.

I'll see if I can get some screenshots of mine when I get home, watch this space...
