Help please I have a a4 1.8twhich I've done some work on recently front mount intercooler cambelt water pump new thermostat forge dv new bbt 318b turbo bigger maf and modified airbox I've also removed all check valves and breather prv and fitted a oil catch tank on tick over the thing is smoking really bad and a strong smell of oil it never smoked on old standard turbo I did return turbo to bbt and it was double checked and was given the all OK it's worse when I start it first thing then if I drive for a couple of miles it all clears Iactually timed it tonight after driving it.. And after 12 mins it started to pour out a whiteycolour smoke and the smell of oil returns I'm loosing no water and don't seem to be using excessive oil

I'd say the oil cooler has let go, had this on a 1.8t Passat, it would come and go with no rhyme nor reason to it, changed the oil cooler, flushed the coolant and oil, and it was resolved, was the smoke noxious, ie burns your eyes unpleasant to breathe?
