Hi

I have a A4 avant B8 2.0 tdi 170BHP quattro s line. I was looking at getting a remap but my worry is in getting a remap is it likely to damage my clutch, flywheel or turbo?

A stage one remap won't affect them. Even a stage two shouldn't make any difference, especially if it's a manual.

Thanks gray99

Just been reading other forums about people having problems and didn't want the same problems!!

How many miles have you done on your current clutch?
I out a tuning box on my old 2.5tdi A4 and it didn't even last the test drive, but that had done 130k.

I wouldn't worry about it. Explain your worries to the mapper and they will map it accordingly. You don't want power delivery like a PD engine.

Only the torque was peaky in PD's .

The torque curve can be flattened with a well developed generic file or high skill of an experienced remapper .

Sorry if I'm jumping on the thread, let me know and I'll open up another !

I have had my B8 Avant 143, Stage 1 remapped, egr delete. Haven't had a dyno run on it but will get one done soon, should be expecting 180-185 bhp. I am considering a dpf delete in the near future which then also got me thinking if it is worth getting a stage 2 remap, what gains and mpg I would be expecting and if any of the engines internals need to be replaced to keep up with the power.

Any help appreciated

Internals are fine , just the torque to limit and control how it comes in to preserve the clutch .

Would it be worth swapping out for a hybrid turbo as well? I may need to swap out the clutch and dpf as I think it is still on the standard ones with 122k on the clock

Anyone know the expected gains and mpg ?

Been quoted £300 for a dpf delete and stage 2 remap, was considering gutting the dpf myself and then driving down but car would be in lymp mode, plus that seems like a good deal ?!

£300 is not bad at all to be honest for dpf delete and stage two

Not too happy, they sent me a message saying I won't be getting my car back today, because apparently the gearbox has to come out to be able to remove the dpf ? Can someone help me ? I didn't think that needed to be done ?

I won't be paying any more than that as they sent it to the garage without asking me! But would the gearbox need to be removed ? They said that they have sent it off to an Audi Specialist

they can remove the egr cooler to get to the dof from the top, no need to remove the gear box.

Would there be any reason to why they are saying the gearbox need's to be removed ?

I heard this once, and it will be because they are lookin at it and going 'how can we get this dpf out, it is above the chasis' .. whilst staring up at it from underneath where most dpf's are easily accesable...
but it is entirely unnecasary when it is easier to remove the EGR and EGR cooler for the access to remove the DPF from on top of the engine rather than underneath. most places i spoke to before having mine done said they always do it the easier egr removal way.

All done and dusted now, gearbox didn't need to be removed and I am back to my happy state :)

And the Stage 2 inc DPF removal....?
It has all been done, I picked my car up last night after it was done, a massive difference compared to the stage 1, put my foot down today and the clutch started slipping in 3rd and 4th so won't be doing any fast pull aways ! Until I get another clutch and dmf. So far so good, mpg seems to have increased

It will do now your exhaust system hasn't got a brick in the first part .

So what were Stage 1 and now Stage 2 dpf less , bhp and torque figures ?

Will get the figures as soon as I can, will be posting it up on my thread

wooo bet you glad that is all over :)
Could you go back and have them adjust the map so the clutch doesnt slip? a new clutch is expensive and could be avoided.
I asked that the map not be so aggresive as I didnt want the clutch to need replacing in 6k from the map. They happily adjusted and so far the clutch is actualy better than before! i no longer get clutch vibrate when i pull off which it has done since i got it 3 years ago (i think coding out the EGR also helped the vibration thing).

Defiantly glad I ha day car back the same day and the gearbox didn't need to be removed ! It out me in a real bad mood in work when I got told.

I think I'm just going to leave it as it is to be honest as I still want the torque and the power, don't want to restrict it in any way, been quoted £400 for a clutch and dmf, so it would be whatever the labour would be ontop of that. The EGR is coded out on mine, will be getting a delete pipe when I can
