Ok so everyone has probably had the problem of the Hazard Warning Compartment Catch breaking like this on an Avant.
I think this'll be my 5th when i replace it again.

Now the problem i noticed earlier today whilst opening and closing my boot was a clicking/tapping noise and i thought it was the Hazard Warning Compartment flapping open.
But on proper investigation i noticed this.

Anyone else had this problem and how did they go about fixing it or any recommendations please?

I'd need to check etka as not sure if that plate is welded or bolted in place, can't see from that pic.

I've saw the nut from back come away from the body/plate, but I've never saw that entire piece break off before

Weld and paint over job that

Cheers, i've literally just worked that out as this has just happened.
Although it looks like it's been glued on.

You can fix that imho with the right tools.

Someones definitely been at that before

It won't take much welding, a few tacks would do it

But even before then, Definitely get that bare bodywork painted or covered in grease asap, dont want it rusting

Tons of water flows down that channel

yeah i agree tr7, it looks like it been poorly repaired before.

Anyone in a 30 mile radius able to weld that plate back to the car for me please?
I obviously don't expect it to be done for nothing.

Managed to get my problem sorted by Station Workshops.
I requested they weld it and when the guy seen it, he said it would be better to get it riveted.
Job done.
