Sitting in the dentist, reading June (?!?!?) 2008 issue of 'CAR'.
Artists sketches of new A3, including one with a boot.
Both were quite nice, certainly more boldly styled, although I'm sure I read both were projected for 2011.
Audi state the A3 saloon is aimed at the North American market, where they don't like hatchbacks.
They state it will be almost identical in size (inside and out) to an E46 BMW 3 series, and will be priced to undercut the 1-series.

Be interested to see what it looks like as most hatches made into saloons end up looking worse. The Jetta and Focus being the 1st things that spring to mind

They should make an A3 coupe like BMW done with their 1 series. I hate the 1 series hatchback but I adore the coupe.

I prefer the styling of both of those, to their hatchback brethren.
Just goes to show!
That link provided by mfspen seens to show the same artist's impressions as 'CAR' mag, although the saloon in 'CAR' was red, not white.
The rest of the mag was pish, so just go to the local newsagent and scan that page.
