hi guys i placed an order for my A3 around a month ago, i know i have a lot of time to wait but does anyone know how long?

Difficult to arrive at a general estimate, but the most recent status reports claim that the wait time is considerably shorter than it used to be 6-12 months ago. This has come as a bit of a surprise even to my own dealer.
You might be surprised how quickly it arrives - my Dad ordered an S3 at the start of April and it’s arriving next week.
Very lucky i ordered mine the 3rd week of April but i called the dealership and they said my build dates around end of July and i'd be in my car end of August. I'm hoping its earlier
I think it’s dependant on whether the dealership has any planned allocation of the model you would like. In my case they had allocation for 2 S3 sportbacks so I guess I took one of those. If purchasing through PCP I would recommend putting down a minimal deposit, due to the current interest rates it’s unlikely that you will ever be in negative equity until the end of the term. Gone are the days that you could drive one for a year or two then sell it and get your deposit back.
Was that a factory fresh order to his spec, or did he take over an existing order? I jumped on a built car that was still in Germany and it took 5 weeks from arriving at Emden docks to leaving and getting on a ship to Grimsby, then arriving at the dealership.
9/10 weeks from fresh order placed to delivery seems incredibly short. 12-16 weeks from start to finish with absolutely no part shortages delays seems more like normality.
I placed an order for my car on the 9th May, been told build date is currently for September because of the model year change so not the 3 months I was quoted
Been informed my car is now in the UK and should be delivered within a week. My 22 month wait is nearly at its end. I think i might have to order its replacement soon as my lease is 3 yrs

I checked with him - dealer had build slots for cars they were ordering as stock so he got one of those, luckily matched what he wanted spec wise.
Im hoping to find out the situation with mine tomorrow. Managed to get an S3 black edition order in the first week of April with estimated build end of June (due to dealer changing existing order). Somehow that got pulled forward and was complete by 15th May!
Unfortunately it has now slowed down, and has been sat at Emden since 19th May. No idea how people wait years, I'm impatient now and it's 3 weeks!

If I order an s3 black edition and it still comes with bits missing .i.e the Audi beam etc, can I reject the car? I’m sure the black edition will come with it all now as it’s all specifically specced as per the black edition
I'm not sure on if you can reject it but I'd say it's worth building one on the Audi builder and compare what now comes as basic. There's a lot of stuff that used to be add-ons that are now part of the basic black edition package.
Oh no I mean the black edition says it comes with Audi beam puddle lights etc, but if it comes with bits missing like they did a while back due to shortages, I’m allowed to reject it arent i? I’d rather wait and have the car with everything on it that it’s supposed to
It's less likely to be missing anything, as that spec has literally just been published 6 weeks ago.
Yeah but how long do you wait, I know it should have everything on it as described and frustrating if not, but you've been deciding a long time to place an order looking at your posts and at some point you'll need to commit if you really want one because who knows how long the chip shortages etc will last - I agree that as they've suddenly launched this MY 23.5 (Unusual for Audi to be honest) Black Edition and list everything on it you would hope they can deliver
I mean the facelift model could well be out next year as well, so do you wait and see if that launches - Where does it end
I'm not being critical of you because it's a big decision in the end though, just trying to put into perspective
Yeah that’s true! I wouldn’t wait for a facelift as like you say, where does it end. Just worries me when I read things on here about cars turning up with basic stuff missing. I saw an s3 at my dealer the other day which didn’t even have the puddle lights and just had a plastic cover where they should be. That’s pretty bad not even coming with a basic light. That was a basic s3 though with those cheaper 19” wheels.
Mine came with no puddle lights. I had to retrofit the Audi beams (which were in the glovebox) myself with wiring looms bought from rocket wires and cut out the hole where they should go on the door card.
When did you order? And do you think that’s a mistake that the hole isn’t there? Surely an Audi shouldn’t come without even the normal light? That’s pretty bad
Mine was a "stock car" grab. Built in March, when there was a disclaimer in place for missing items. Mine is missing all ambient lighting and was missing those puddle lights too. It did have a luggage pack fitted though (normally a £175 extra).
It seemed daft to supply the Audi beams when there wasn't even basic puddle lights fitted to swap out for them. It's like giving you a wheel brace and jack, but not supplying a spare wheel because they ran out of them.
Wow I didn't even know that was a thing, so effectively when it comes double check everything they said would be there is there? Why is that even a thing? (Sorry first time new car buyer)
Unfortunately i'm still waiting at Emden awaiting shipping. The wait continues!
Slightly frustrating as i'm not able to obtain any sort of date estimation, just vague comments from my dealer.
A friend of mine should have been picking up their Q8 Bank Holiday Monday but was held at customs in Germany - Picking it up tomorrow now so hopefully yours won't be to much longer
I ordered my car beginning of may & the specs have now changed, my car build date isn't for a while, do they go with the specs that you initially ordered or the updated specs?
Just got message from garage build date week 28th which works out for 2nd week of July which they say is early September delivery. If any bits missing I will refuse to accept it.
Received an email from my work fleet provider. My car is built, in the country and available for delivery from next week! Hopefully the 22 months wait has been worthwhile. A3 Sportback 45 TFSI e S Line Competition, Turbo Blue, C+S Package
Received confirmation that my car is in the UK and at Audi, Just arranged collection for Tuesday 20th June. The 22 month wait is nearly over.
Mine got to the dealer on thur. Hoping get it today, fleet company have to authorise it

I not sure if mine has the ambient light pack fitted. I was informed it was removed due to supply issues. I've since read a number of cars that have arrived with it on. Fingers crossedMine got to the dealer on thur. Hoping get it today, fleet company have to authorise it

ditto for me. Ambient light pack was (as stupid as it sounds) one of the features i was most looking forward to!
If its a build from the new price list at the start of April 2023, you'll almost certainly be OK. If its a historical build, it's fairly likely you'll be missing puddle lights and ambient lighting, but you might get the storage pack fitted.
I ordered late March 2023. Should be a few more weeks till we know for sure, I guess.
Howcome they won’t add the puddle lights etc to older builds if they’re now in stock? Just because the car is past that point in the build?
At the time they determined what parts they'd need for a particular car scheduled for build, they must've decided they were out of stock for that car. There's a lot of planning resource and parts, weeks and months ahead.
Ship due into Emden in a few hours thats expected to head to sheerness later today / tomorrow. Fingers crossed for anyone due into there!
“Drive the deal” is coming up with an s3 black edition for 39k but their site is very basic so I can’t work it all out. Can you still get deals on the new s3? Carwow doesn’t give any other than the £3k deposit contribution
Mines been there 4 weeks but sounds like it could be anything from 1/2 weeks to 6/7 weeks.
