Hi all,

Has anyone recently had their DSG box serviced at Audi and if so may i ask how much was it?

I was originally quoted £215 inc VAT but haggled it down to £193, this was at Reading Audi.

I can get it done for £160 at an indy but would prefer Audi to do it just in case anything goes wrong with the box.... they were then the last to touch it!

Cheers in advance

The previous owner of mine has organised mine to be done in Audi North Dublin for €320

I was quoted €288 from Audi South Dublin.

I'm praying the oil/filter change at 37k miles will solve the jerky 1st gear, have you ahd any problems with the smoothness of shifts?

When I was talking to my dealer a couple of days ago about the possibility of trading in my existing A3, they quoted me £269 for a variable interval service and £187 for the s-tronic gearbox oil change.

Cheers guys, £190 sounds about par for the course then

Paul, my first gear can be quite violent sometimes if I floor it from the lights, the only way I can get around this is after coming off the brake just allowing a second or two for the 1st gear to engage and then feather the accelerator rather than burying it

The oil change can only help I think as it's never been done!

That's the way I'm driving around the prblem at the minute, not too bad most of the time but if you have to pull out quickly at a junction it's far from ideal.

Is this gearbox issue in firs the norm for a S Tronic/DSG Audi?

My R32 DSG suffered from early downchanging when it was cold but I never had this problem.

As the 2.0tdi 170 and the 3.2 petrol as so different would the gearboxes in both be set up completely differently?

My R32 never used to creep when coming off the brake

From the reviews I've read mate, the DSG box does suffer from slight delay/jerkiness setting off from standstill, unfortunate drawback me thinks although not helped by old transmission oil

I must say though I never recall my girlfriends 3.2 TT's DSG box doing the same

Bizarre.... the 170 diesel has more torque but not that much more, the 3.2 had a longer 1st gear I remember but not sure that would make a difference???

cheers,

I'm praying that the oil change will solve it as the rest of the car is great, actually enjoying more than the R32

First baby arriving in three months and the aount of jealous ****ers that would vanalise the R32 would put you off ownership! once I guy walked past at the lights and ripped off the rear wiper while I was sitting in the car!

Don't ever touch a blokes car, if I ever caught someone doing something with my car I can't imagine what I'd end up doing!

Audi Newbury have quoted £180....it's coming down!

Make 100% sure they do the filter, I took mine in to Audi for the DSG oil change and they happily changed the oil and didn't bother to think I'd want the filter doing too. Muppets.

that is village, who the hell would do any oil change without a new filter! i'll be sure to make sure they do, thanks

Latest on my DSG situation.

It's booked in to Audi Dublin next MOnday, I have the 6 litre of oil an dfilter and they are charging €199.19 labor.

I hoped that this would cure it but having just spoken to a DSG specialist he said once the symptom of 1st gear lurching appears the damage is done and the oil will be a waste.

He normally does a new mechatronic unit for €2,300 but as he's friend of friend he said he'd do it for €1,800 with a free scan to see are there any DSG fault codes.

Part of me feels I should put the €199 towards getting the mechatronic unit done and then on the other hand I'm hoping that the Audi oil change will help!

Any advice from anyone with similar DSG problems?

thanks

Where did you pick up the oil and filter Paul?

bit of a saga so I'll give you the tabloid rather than the war and peace!

the previous owner included the long life service and dog oil service in the sale and the Audi North Dublin took forever to get the DSG oil and filter, finally got them delivered to me yesterday(he bought them from Audi North Dublin)

So I've organized Audi South Dublin to do it on Monday, I can send you the part numbers if you want?

Had the oil & filter change at Reading Audi yesterday for £160, gear changes definitely smoother as a result

Good to hear mine was no better it wasn't until I got the four injectors and loom changed under warrant that it became snoother

Well, on my 2005 Tdi dsg, if I hold the car on the foot brake there're a few microseconds of a delay before the clutches re-engage after I release the foot brake, hence the jerk if it's booted away. If I use the hand brake in 'D', the car will sit on it's haunches, trying to pull away, but after a second or so it 'relaxes' and will just sit like that, then I can boot it as I drop the hand brake with no jerk or thump whatsoever. There's also the added bonus of not dazzling the driver behind me! :)

Maybe it's just mine.

that's what i had imagined but I can see myself doin gthat when I want to pull out of junctions etc but cheers for the tip

Why not? You can drop the hand brake faster than swapping foot from brake to throttle with much better control. If you aren't going to be stood long, just hold the car with the hand brake with the button in. Much quicker with a bit of practice and kinder on the gearbox!
