hi all, just purchased an a3 cabriolet 2008 with runs-e head unit. Fm reception is intermittent/rubbish. Am I right in thinking antenna is in front screen and amplifier in each pillar. If so, are these a common failure, should I replace both? Can I test them? How do I remove pillar trim without breaking? Is it just more cost effective to fit an in line booster behind head unit? Cheers guys

Was it a retrofitted rns, of so reception will be degraded & upgrade to antenna system would be required, of which I supply, fit.

If it's factory then could be wiring, connectors or amps, not common tbh.

You can't fit a booster it's not a normal antenna system.

I believe it’s factory fit, I’ve found the amplifiers in the pillars and the changeover box behind glovebox. Nothing seems untoward. Can I fit an aftermarket windscreen mount antenna in plug into antenna connection via powered adapter and leave diversity lead disconnected

Nope it's not the same system, just fix the existing as screen mount also looks awful, if it did work that is.

Scan the car for antenna errors, that'll help diagnose.

Found another thread somewhere so thought I’d just try it, problem solved. Easy fix
