Hello guys,

I have this particular problem. Tried few main solutions, without success.

Problem: Roof not opening due to rear right window not working completely.

Window motor/module is working as I checked it on the other side window.
12v is coming to motor module connector too.
All 4 window button seem to work, but for 3 remaining windows.

If anyone has a clue what else could it be?
is there other control module besides motor module?

Thanks for your help in advance.

What isn't working on rear right window?

Not sure what is not working in the line, but motor/module is fine also power is coming to the connector, not sure how to check if control command is coming.

I mean, does the window go up or down from any of the control switches?

No, not from dedicated switch nor from all 4 switch, which leads to failure of roof opening.

Here is my scan data, where could be the actual problem? All windows work except Rear Right. Roof don't work either.

Since I had very little response here, I found the solution on other forums. Thank you all anyway.

Hi, I have exactly the same problem with my 2013 Audi A3 Convertible. The driver's side rear window doesn't work and this prevents the soft top operating.
Would you mind telling me where you found the solution?
Thanks
David

Hi, I have the same with my 2010 A3 Convertible, changed the module but no difference. Any ideas?

Hi, I have the same with my 2010 A3 Convertible, changed the module but no difference. Any ideas?

I have connected a VCDS to mine and it says no communication with window controller.
The door switches and fuse are OK. I have ordered a new control module and hope that fixes it.
But, I am now worried that you have changed the module without success. I will post the results once I have changed my module.

Hi mate how did you sort your a3 convertible window problem as i have same issue cheers bud

Hi mate have same problem only mine is passenger rear how did you sort yours mate loosing faith lol

Hi, I haven't solved the problem yet. I have power to the window module, the door switch and the fuse are OK. I have tried swapping all the relays under the dash. VCDS show no communication to the window module. I have ordered a new module (expected delivery is 21st May 2018 and hope that will solve the problem. However I am concerned that others have changed the module without success. I'll post the result. Does anyone else have any suggestions?

I fitted the new module today, but as I feared I still have the same fault - no CAN gateway communication to the door module. here is the VCDS output:

01334 - Door Control Module; Rear Right (J389)
004 - No Signal/Communication

I have run out of ideas. Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

Problem solved.
It turned out to be a broken wire in the loom gaiter to the driver's door.
Pretty poor for a car that has only done 40k miles.

Hope this helps others on this forum

I've had the same problem with the wifes car, same wire is broken hope it works, was going to take it to the garage£££££
:icon thumright::respekt:

My roof doesn't open, I have the roof warning light on the dash, 2010 a3 tdi convertible

I have checked the drivers door wiring harness in the loom gaiter and couldn't see any broken wires, is it worth removing the door card to check the rest of the wiring loom?

The following fault codes appear

02071 - local data bus no communication
00470 - comfort data bus, single wire, circuit malfunction
01334 - rear right door module

Cheers

Also to add, the rear drivers side electric window does not work...

Before you pull off the door card I would check the continuity of the purple/white wire in the door gaiter. The wire runs in the loom alongside the driver's seat above the cill.

Hi David

Any idea how I can get to the loom alongside the drivers seat, what do I need to remove to get to it?

If you have any pics that would help

Cheers

Start by removing the trim from the side of the foot well (see picture). You should be able to get to the front end of the loom as it runs along the cill under the plastic trim. There is almost certainly a break in the wire as it runs from the gaiter into the car body, behind the trim panel.

Perfect, is it the purple/white wire that I should only be looking at for a break?

On my car it is the purple/white wire that is the control signal to the rear right door module. My car is a 2013 model, so the colours could possibly be different on yours. There are only 3 wires to the module: power, earth and control. The control wire is thinner than the others.

Ok will have a proper look and report back, when I did pull back the gaiter from the door hinge, there were more than 3 wires present

Also sorry if this is a stupid question how can i check for continuity as i dont know where the wires start and end?

I presume removing the trim will give me access to the loom plug/connector? so this is where i put the multimeter red probe, but where do i put the other black probe? :culpability:

Your fault codes are different from the ones I had. One of the your fault codes refers to a comfort data bus and I believe the earlier models had a comfort control module under the drivers seat, which mine doesn't have. So your wiring could be different. When I was researching the problem, a common fault appeared to be water damage to the comfort control module.

Assuming your wiring is the same as mine: pull the gaiter off the door, find the purple/white wire and give it a tug to see if it is broken.
There are no connectors, other than the ones inside the door card and at the rear door control module. To check continuity you will have to inset a needle or pin through the wire insulation, both at the door and part way down the loom. Connect your multimeter to the needles.

Hi mate, I have the same problem and it turned out to be the purple/white wire that's broken. The thing is, when I took the cap off the loom on the car side, I couldn't see the other part of the wire that goes into the driver's door. I think it has gone in.
Would I need to take off the door card to get to it?
