Have been searching around the net for how often the 2.0tdi 140bhp needs to be serviced but haven't had much joy, anyone able to advise?

Cheers!

Do they do a 140bhp 8V? Reckon all LL servicing should still be circa 19,000 miles 18-24 months.

Firstly Audi do not make an A3 8V 2.0TDI-140. If you car is a 140 then it will be an 8L or 8P rather than an 8V and you would be better looking at the 8L or 8P forum where I'm sure someone will be able to help you.

Have said that all, A3s can be serviced at regular intervals of 10,000 miles if they are set to that type of service or Variable intervals of usually around 18-19,000 miles. It depends how many miles you do in a year. If it is less than 10,000 then it's best to have it serviced once a year. If it's more get a dealer to make sure then car is set to Long-life or Variable interval service and the DIS display will tell you when your particular car is due for service based on various sensors in the engine.

Sorry typo, 150bhp!

Thanks for the info, I'm looking at a 2012 model, doesn't seem to have been serviced at all yet, on 10k miles, sounds a little odd to me?

Not really we went 21 months and 18000 miles before a service was required on an 8P 170. If you are buying from a dealer I would expect them to do a long life service for you before sale and some are offering 2 free services as part of the deal.

Good luck.

PS.. Dave I don't think they did an 8L 140!!!

No your right, that was back in the 1.9TDI days. My first ever diesel was when Audi stopped making the 1.8T Sport. I tried a 2.0FSI thinking it be similar to the 1.8 but it did not have a turbo at that stage and it was horrible so I tried a 2.0TDI-140 as that was much more like the 1.8T Sport so I went for that and have had a 2.0TDI ever since. One 140, one 140 remapped to 170 and two 170s including my current one. Which one next ?????

All of mine have been on Variable service and serviced between 18 and 19,000 miles.

Re Dave's comment - I think the most they squeezed out of the 1.9 Tdi officially was 150bhp.

Interesting to hear your history lesson. Mrs Pilot had 2x 1.8T 150bhp Golf GTi (with a red i)in 2000 and 2001 then her first 8P 2.0 Fsi in 2003 which as you say was a poor engine so we replaced with a 200PS quattro SB in 2005 cracking car. then 2 8P diesel 170 quattros in 2008 and 2011. Servicing is as our experiences 18/19000 have had similar experiences with my larger Audis too.

My goodness what a load of anoraks we are ;-0
