A3 2007 key locks but won’t unlock

I have an Audi A3 2007
The key fob will unlock the boot but won’t unlock the door
It does however lock the car

Any tips?
Is it as simple as changing battery or more complex?

I have to manually open the car with the key & when I do, if I don’t start ignition the alarm goes off.

When I turn ignition on, alarm stops!

1. Check the wires between the door and car.
Probably cut wires.
2. Check the lock itself.

As noted, check the door rubber for broken wires, however, does the passenger side unlock & not drivers, via remote.
