I have cleared all the faults and they havent come back but i havent taken it for a drive yet since i cleared them.

Should i be really worried? Are they all serious faults? Do you think they are related to the remap?

I would really appreciate some advice on this. Any help at all would be great!!

Cheers
Chris

Depends who remapped it - some maps produce spurious errors whilst the map is loading, so if they don't come back you're OK.

Do you recall if the tuner cleared the fault codes?

Hi Mate,

I have cleared the errors and have taken the car out again and give it a good thrashing for about 20 miles, brought the car back and done a scan and it hasnt thrown up any errors!

Do you think this means that its ok now? Why would it produce spurious errors? does this happen if the map isnt very good? The tuner never cleared the fault codes. Its a local tuner that i used but he is well known and came highly recomended by alot of people. I live in the Scottish Highlands so its very difficult getting the car to somebody to do a remap. The guy that did it was using software called Alien tech with a tuning box that read Kess v2 Master Version. He downloaded my original and then customised it etc and then uploaded it on to my ecu. Does this sound about right? i dont know much about remapping tbh. Does that software and hardware sound familiar? Have you heard of it before?

Cheers
Chris

Yeah, I don't think you have anything to worry about. I've had a number of different maps on my cars and the range of fault codes is different for each one. The tuner should normally clear them before giving you the car back but it's no big deal. There should be timestamps on the error codes that should link back to when you had it mapped, although some codes could've been there beforehand and you just never knew about them?

ah right, How can i view the time stamps? I was actually looking to see when the faults where actually logged but couldnt find a time anywere, is there a way to find out? It was proabably 2 weeks before i had the remap that i did the last scan so they could have been there before i suppose but i just thought it was a little coinsidental! Have yo heard of that tuning software and hardware before?

Cheers
Chris

Chris, dont worry yourself, just scan in a weeks time, then a month, if nothing comes back then should be fine.

Strange as all my maps on cars with same guy Simon@amd surrey, has never produced even a whiff of module errors, but with modern ars its possible, I know when I get cars mileage corrected to the right amount for DIS upgrades, it creates errors as it cycles power etc to cluster etc while ignition is on, but clear them down & never come back.

Cheers Nige, a little reassurance is all i needed. I have done another 40 miles today and have just done another scan, not logged any faults so hopefully its ok. Have you heard of this type of map before Nige? the Alientech kess v2 master version hardware etc? or ecm for producing maps. Got to admit, im an IT officer but when it comes down to remapping im not sure how it all works!!
