A prime example of why we practice 'extreme parking'.

Saturday I had to attend a wedding at a Hotel in the New Forest & as a young lady was accompanying me I couldn't use my doggy fur & mud covered Fiesta as I usually would at weekends (as obviously they don't like being in danger of becoming mud & fur covered when they're all dressed up!). Anyway upon arrival there's nowhere available to practice extreme parking as I usually would with the A3, so I end up in a space between two 3 series with more than enough room to fully open my 3 dr doors without touching the cars either side (to give you an idea of how far apart we were as there were no defined bays & no I don't throw my doors open either) so all good & the car should be safe...

Anyhow we return to the car after dark & the 3 series to my O/S has left & been replaced by a white S-Max (people carrier alert!!) parked slightly at an angle so the NSR is towards my car, but still a reasonable distance away & nothing blatantly obvious amiss in the pitch black...

Fast forward to Monday morning & I get the A3 out of the garage & WTF's that on the OS quarter panel, there's a dent & crease with white paint transfer. Looking further at the car the not only is there a dent but the precious little darlings have drawn on the glass / bodywork too!!. What's that old phrase 'proper parenting prevents future a***holes'!?!?!.

So I put the feelers out to colleagues who still work in the retail side of the trade to see if anyone could recommend a really good PDR specialist & I come up trumps with the company suggested & today my car is now back to dent free perfection, which once washed / waxed at the weekend you'd never know the panel has ever been worked on. What is wrong with people nowadays! We open the door for our 8 year old to make sure that doesn't happen, he also gets told off if he draws on the Mrs car window, never has he done it to anybody else's!

Cheers fella, luckily it wasn't too costly as I got it at trade price but all the same it's an unnecessary expense no one needs. It's amazing that Andy managed to remove the dent & crease from the panel without even needing to remove the wheel arch or interior trims (which I would've done for him if required anyway). From what I've been told he was gluing a tool to the outside of the panel pulling it out a bit at a time, dressing with a hammer & then repeating the whole process over & over until perfect.

He sounds like a good old craftsmen and not a panel changer. I watch a lot of Discovery channel car shows and you get to see how these things are done which i find very interesting.

Glad u got it sorted mate, but your right some people just don't give a toss and have no respect. I'm a total paranoid parker when it's not possible to park miles from another car. Worst thing is at weekend when the wife wants to go to local retail park and there's no parent and child spaces left! I opt to stay in the car and sit like a meerkat looking out for predators looking to attack lol.
Like TomH my daughter (5) is well warned, do not draw on a dirty car, do not touch car when it's wet, don't take bike between cars lol. She listens too which is good, just need to teach my nieces and nephews now

It could of been worse though for OP, this happened to my dads new X6 last year when parked in multi storey. Culprits were never caught!

I'd actually say the moral of the story is treat others property as you'd wish yours to be treated!. 400 - 500 miles per week means it doesn't take long to get dirty unfortunately, but it's usually kept immaculate so little fingers are not tempted to doodle... I thought grey wasn't supposed to show the dirt anyhow lol !!.

Tell me about it, it has been an absolute nightmare keeping the cars clean the last few weeks.
It has been so refreshing to have 2/3 days without rain to dirty the car, summer is coming

To be fair, the Nano Grey on mine doesn't show dirt as such it just loses its shine which is good.

Yeah there does seem to be a reluctance by some parents so say no to their precious little darlings, but Barry & Tom above are doing it, my parents did it & I don't resent them for doing so otherwise you end up with the attitude of the scum that scratched Barry's dad's car grrr rant over!.

The family that lived across from us as kids growing up had brand new cars in the drive all the time. Their dad was sales manager at local Ford dealer and none of them gave a sh1t. Bikes were bashed off them, footballs kicked at them and the interiors were used as a soft play centre! Lol
