A bit of helped needed

long time since ive posted but i need to find a good 2nd hand gearbox as mine packed up back in may. also the car is stuck in 4wd and even when the car running still the same.i rang audi just to see what they would charge for a gearbox and clutch fitted and they came back to me with a price of WAIT FOR IT £5100 and it was a recondition one but they would of let me off £1000 if the gearbox cassing was in good condition but i laughed and put the phone down so what would you do get it recontioned of find a low mileage one from a breakers but that would be the last result.any advice would be greatfull but what would kame stay in 4wd.bile but just to add it went when slowing down if traffic with no warning or Noise.

I got a replacement gearbox of fleabay for around £350 including transferbox, might aswell get a new clutch in there whilst it's all off unless you are running an uprated item already. Labour shouldn't be more than £250 to swop it over from a gearbox specialist.

i recently had my gearbox out and fully recond by a specialist gearbox repairer for £750 (just the box i removed the box) and aslo brought new clutch and fly wheel to so cost me just over £1000, dont see why you couldnt get a specialist gearbox repairer to do the whole job for you around that price £1500 max i think
