Hello

New to Audi and cabriolet ownership - bought with my heart for once! It's a black 2006 1.8T. Absolutely love it!!

Only worrying thing is I've noticed a couple of what look like wear patches aoround the back of the hood. Is this unusual? Any recommendations on what to do about them? I'm hoping that a good clean and re-proof will clean them up a bit.

Hi mate congrats, you're gonna love it!, and summer is just round the corner. I got the B7 1.8T Sline EVERY time I drive it I smile, such a beautiful ride.
Anyway, mine is also a 2006 with 17k on the clock, and It also has the start of wear patches on the rear slopes of the roof. Its completly unavoidable. But what you can do to minimise it, is on dry days use a decent brush and from front to back brush the dust off off it (dont worry you can be quite firm) this will get the dust particles out the fibres that are abrasive, when the mechanism folds and the fabric rubs on itself.
Also buy this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220401882557&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT (renovo soft top kit). The first bottle gets all the crap out and conditions the fabric. The second water proofs it and seals it against the elements. This will keep the roof looking fresh for longer.
Also try not to fold the roof down when the material is wet or damp, this causes the fabric to crease.

Cheers for that - much appreciated. Already bought Autoglym soft top kit on a recommendation, but will defo have a look at the Renovo gear.
