8V VCDS Mods

Hi mates, first post here. I was trying to find a way to activate the the alarm system on my 2016 FL A3. I tried to follow the steps in this video:

But coding showed only zeros on the module, so i tried the adaptations, and it was a success.
Here is what i did:

09-Cent. Elect.
Security access-16, code: 31347
Adaptation-10

Search for these text, then select the only one which shows up:

ENG141960 - activate (this activates the anti-theft system)
ENG115865 - driver door contact thatcham
ENG115812 - active
ENG126842 - active
ENG115867 - active
ENG116669 - active
ENG116670 - active (this can also enable the cirp sound but on the horn, if you do the proper mod in this thread)

Do someone has the VCDS codings pdf somewhere else stored, i'm not able to dowload it from dropbox, because of the traffic limit. Thank you.

If the alarm system was not active from the factory then you don’t have an alarm system in the vehicle.

Audi alarm systems need “commissioning” which is a very different process from coding. Applications like VCDS cannot do this.

Hi Alex! Thank you for the reply. I dont know what i have exactly, interior sensors not for sure. I have the red led blinking in the drivers door. In the past when i closed the car with windows down, and opened one of the doors nothing happened. Now it makes alarm signals with the horn. I will buy the interior sensors and ask them to check the alarm system.

Well that’s very interesting because normally if you don’t have an alarm supplied and working from the factory the hardware does not exist. Before you go any further I would speak to your local dealership parts department, given them your VIN number and ask them if you have the alarm hardware. The reason for my saying this is because you might have the hardware in place for the door contacts you might not for the interior sensors, meaning you would need the control module (within the front map lights panel) and wiring. Then once fitted you would need to have it activating via the VW Group service tool which actually might not be possible due to software version management.

For the money I would look at an aftermarket alarm.

Not very special this. The hardware for an alarm is not just only sensors but also a software part as you know. He activated the software part. The (even standard) central locks in a MQB car are part of the software programming of the alarm. The sound it makes when it goes off is not the alarm horn but the "steering horn".

I did the same with my car since i got it. I even code it standard on MQB cars that don't have a factory alarm. I still need to complete it with the sensors and button. Then i need to let it be tested by a station to get the certificate.

The activation does not need to be done with Odis. Can be done with vcds / vcp etc

DJAlix: Thank you. Do you have any other link than dropbox for your VCDS coding pdf? Im not able to download it since 5 days or more. Please share it somewhere.

RJ-8V: Thank you very much for the information. Any difference you used in your way of the activation compared to mine?

Nope same method. You can code everything so you have a confirmation tone through the horn in stead of a beep. Horrible sound but possible haha

Removed link and document as people were abusing it.

There is a special procedure for enabling a factory alarm system module, I have replaced enough of them so know. Not possible via standard coding tools.

Couple of retrofit specialists here who retrofit factory alarms (8V, B9, F5 etc) for dealerships. And i know that they don't use Odis ;)

Whatever. We are not talking about "people who know how to do stuff" as the average person does not have access to the tools and applications that people like "us" do, let alone whats available to "the people you know". Whats trying to be said here is that parameterisation and calibration is needed for this project, and the average person / hobbyist who is looking to undertake this retrofit themselves is not going to be able to do it without specialist tools.

Hey all
Just picked up my FL Rs3 saloon and would like to code alarm chirp on lock(and menu item) I have vcds and obdeleven (although not sure I trust it) and would like to know if the vcds coding is the same as the pfl 8v? And if so could You list the coding .

Could anyone help me please.

Thanks in advance

Andy..

What im trying to say is that for some stuff you don't need Odis to do activation of certain retrofits. Like the original alarm. You should know that of all the people here.

And the people i know...they have GeKo licenses for all the VAG brands (and i dont mean not a 24h access or something). They retrofit stuff on around a 50 cars a week. But enough said.

Gratz on the new car! Same coding:
  • Menuesteuerung akustische Rueckmeldung = Active
  • Acknowledgement Signals - Akustische Rueckmeldung Verriegeln = Active
  • Acknowledgement Signals - Akustische Rueckmeldung entriegen = Active
This will give you beep on lock, unlock and a MMI menu within Central locking with which to turn the beeps on and off.

I do and yes ODIS is not "king", but thats not what I am trying to say. What I am trying to do is help and save people time. Most people here don't have access to anything outside of VCDS, VCP and maybe eOBDeleven, non of which can do what @bmarko82 whats to do anyway, and telling him as such saves him dumping money and time in to a project which he will not be able to complete with professional assistance.

*VCP might be able to do this if you have custom files

Add this while you are in there:

Acknowledgement signals-gptische Rueckmeldung Komfortschliessen = active

Your turning signals will flash again once all doors, windows, boot and bonnet have been closed :)

Edit: sorry yes, all within 09.

Does any one have the VCDS Codes to Rain close my windows on a 2017 S3, I have read conflicting reports as to if this is possible ? I've tried 3 times now but cant seem to get it to work. Maybe I am missing some steps ?

09 Cent Elect
Security Access and enter 31347
Go to adaptation channels and set the following:
Regenschliessen_ein aus (Rain Closing on / o) – Select Active
Regenschliessen_art (Rain closing Type) set to Permanent
Menuesteuerung Regenschliessen (Menu Control Rain close) Set to Active (enables the menu in the ifotainment screen)
THEN
9 Central Electronics
Submenu of RLFS
Byte 0
Enable Bit 2 Regenschliessen aktivi (rain closing active)
Enable Bit 1 Active Regenlicht aktiv (rain light active)

I have tried this on both my S3 17 plate and a golf mk7 66 plate with no joy.

As long as you have completed this under the correct conditions then it should work. Must reset the mmi after every change and simulate a “drive” in order to test ie:

Get in car and shut the door, start the engine, open a window, turn engine off, open door and get out, Close door and lock, wait for one min and then spray water.

thanks I will try again when I can and let you know

I just tried the rain closing windows. My module 09 won’t let me enable bit 2 bite 0. Also the menu option isn’t showing up.

Once you are in 09 > Long Coding you then need to select the RLHS sensor from the drop down menu, then long coding helper to change the long coding, or edit the coding directly. There are no long coding changes for rain closing within the 09 itself.

I was within RLHS. there's no check box for bit 2 on my car, so I was trying to change the coding itself, but as soon as i clicked anywhere outside the box for making it say 000111, it would just go back to 000011.

Use the LCode2 option. This will pop an additional window with all bits available, make the change, return, save.

Yes indeed

Guys / All, Ross-Tech publishes a 70 something page guide on how to use their application. While most Codings are pretty simple I would suggest taking some time to read the guide in order to know how to use your software, what it does and most importantly why it does it.

... and is insured... cough cough me! :)

...however if someone has taken the time and the money to invest in the software it would be advisable to understand it.

God yes,

I made the mistake of buying OBDEleven and now after a couple of close calls with their incompetent app refuse to use it. You can actually cause serious harm to your car with this app.

So, I'll either buy VCDS or, admit there are some things I'm not an expert at and call yourself soon and book in a session, particularly in respect to the suspension reset. I just need to work out whether to wait until you come North near Chester or take it to site at Enfield or old Kent road.

Enfield is just down the road from me. Could meet you there :)

I'd love to hire you DJAlix for many projects to my car, but getting my car across the pond and back will not be worth it and there are no trained techs that do this kind of work anywhere near me.

Whilst I agree with all, people have to learn somewhere and the internet is a great example. I understand binary, hexadecimal and what is happening inside of the memory module. My questions were merely a little ask for help, I am not doing this to make money, this is my own car.

For what ever reason L2Code is not working, no new windows popup and yes my cable is on the latest firmware and my software is uptodate

just for completeness, setting bit 1+ 2 =06 manually which also is not working (L2Code not poping out)
