Had the car a few weeks and I've noticed that initially the air con takes a good few minutes to get cold on a hot day like today. 22c near me. Now once on the move the car does get colder but I still think it's taking too long to get cold enough. After 10 min I stick it from LO to 18 and this is fine. 15 min later it's really cold so it's on 20c. My issue is think it's taking too long to get cold. I see that most air con specialists recommend that a recharge is due every 2 years so I suppose my 14 plate is due one. Was wondering how others have found the 8v air con performance?

Think mine had an Audi service back in March. Does a Audi service come with air con recharge as standard?

Mine works super quick.

Only commented yesterday how my S3 air con gets super cold with a minute compared to my hybrid GTE which takes a good 3 minutes to get fridge cold.

I'm gonna book mine in for a recharge tomorrow for piece of mind.

Nope not with the normal car service routine, you have to ask for a air con service, at least I did...

I agree - mines be like that from new. It's OK, but doesn't blast out icy air within a few minutes, like some cars I have had.

I leave mine on Auto summer and winter if its warm enough or the car gets hot because of the sun shining in the cooler will start up within half a mile of driving. If I put it on low I could hang a side of beef inside and keep it fresh.......

Had mine serviced at 2 years and from memory it was £80. That was where they put all this stuff through it to cleanse it etc, whether that includes a recharge I don't know. However mine worked really well both before and after.

Quick thought - your climate control is not set to "Eco" is it...?

If you press the "Auto" button once - it should just set the climate control to maintain that temperature - but if you press "Auto" again - you will get a very small "eco" message come on just next to the passenger side temperature display.

As I understand it "Eco" reduces the power of the AC unit to save an unnoticeable amount of fuel - but the trade off is it takes longer to reduce the temperature of the cabin - much as you describe. i just turned it off over the weekend and the car cools down much more quickly now.

Might be worth stabbing the Auto button a few times to see if it makes a difference for you...

I like the AC - cools and heats quickly.

Not really sold on the "dual zone" bit as it doesn't seem to make a difference. Usually whatever is hotter will win. I just keep them both the same.

Yes a small space to have 'zoned' climate, I guess though that the triple might work better with it being front to rear rather than side by side...

Agreed. Not sure how they could've made half of a 5ft wide space 25 degrees and the other half 19. But I guess it means the buttons and display look nice and symmetrical on the console.

My wife likes it warmer than me, so she turns her side up. I don't think it makes a scrap of difference but hey ho - go with the flow :friends:

Surely the point of CC is that you set it to your preferred temperature and then leave it? Mine is set to 21° and left as is. As I'm an old fart I find anything lower than that a bit 'arry!

Yes - I do the same. But I don't think it puts the system on full cooling (or heating) until it gets to the desired temperature and then keeps it there. I find you need to turn it right down to get max cooling to get the temperature down and then adjust up to maintain the temperature.

Well mine blasts out cold air when it's 21° outside and the CC is set to 21. I assume this is because the car is warmer inside than out and it's trying to cool the interior. I'd rather just let it do its own thing than fart about with the dial every five minutes. :)

Mine is left at 20.5c all the time. Never change it summer or winter and if I need more when it's colder I just just prees max demist. I think some feel that by wacking the temp control up or down it will heat up or cool down quicker but infact, climate control being climate control, it doesn't and by constantly altering the settings it makes things worse...
