8L S3 to Mk 2 TT 3.2 buying advice needed

Hi, I am probably going to be changing my 1999 S3 for either a S4 4.2 or more likely a Mk 2 TT 3.2 and wanted to get forum member views on the infamous cam chain stretching issues and others. Cars I'm considering range from 61,000 to around 90,000 miles. Is the cam chain problem widespread or isolated, and similarly any widespread issues with the DSG gearbox. Any other general pointers as to Mk2 TT V6 ownership pitfalls and tips most welcome.
