8L 1.6 gearbox compatibility

Hi All,

Trying to find a gearbox for an A3 1.6 sport.

There's a few on ebay. Are there any better gearboxes that could be used instead? One off a 1.8T for example? Can they be interchanged or are they different?

Actually there is a very similar gearbox thread right at the top. Read this: http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/gear-box.232626/

As you see after reading that, there's no point in putting 1.8 or 1.8T gearbox onto a 1.6. VAG engineers have done a good enough job here, trust them.

Right, well we've found the code is 'DLP'. can I only use a 'DLP' gearbox or are there others with the same ratio and fitting that will work. Just so I can source a suitable 2nd hand replacement. I can't see many on ebay with the DLP code.
